Living In The Country We Are Always Infested With Mice. Good Old Fashioned Mice Traps Which Are Really Cheap Are The Best. We Buy About 8 And Position In Cupboards And Anywhere We Think They Might Be. Put A Bit Of Choc Biscuit Such As Kitkat And Then Listen For Them All To Go Off. Anyway, we had to put out the rat poison (B&Q pellets) for a couple of weeks (we're only home weekends currently) and then bought a new electronic device at Maplins. Voila! The rats are gone!!
Good luck to you![/QUOTE]
What type of device did you buy from Maplins cos I bought a device and the rat visited as if nothing untoward insitu?!! Yet device appeared to be working properly as the little red light on it was winking as it should!:rolleyes:Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle. :A0 -

We returned from holiday in April to find the mice had moved into our pantry, via a hole in the kitchen floor underneath the kitchen sink
We initially bated with poison, but ordered some of the sonic devices, but the ones that work along the household wiring (one for upstairs and one down), rather than just in the room it's positioned in. I got them from here: http://www.primrose-london.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=24_25&products_id=36
Touch wood, we've not had any activity since.
HTH somebody
Edited to add, the downside is that the bloomin woodlice have made a break for it across rooms on a continual basis since I plugged the things in - hopefully we'll eventually get on top of them, but think it may be some time as the house is nearly 200 years old and they've been here a mighty long time!0 -
Not sure where to post, and not really money saving related, but thought I would tap into the collective knowledge of MSE....
I have mice. I live in the country, surrounded by fields and they have just started cutting crops which has made matters worse for me. I have mice getting into my kitchen from I dont know where. I cant get to the back of the kitchen cupboards and cant find any hole on the outside where they are getting in. I have plugged up as many holes as possible, put a long wedge of tin foil on top of washing machine, and underneath where I saw them coming and going, I have 4 humane mouse traps which catch about 4 a week - I take them half a mile up the road and release them, all my food is up and out of the way in cupboards out of reach and in tins. I disinfect the work tops and floors daily. I also have to clean out the lower cupboards in the kitchen daily. Its exhausting! Kim and Aggie would be proud!
Does anyone have any advice for mouse deterrants (no cat suggestions please). I have heard that mothballs are a deterrant, but that hasn't helped.
I am at my wits end with the little vermin. Please help!0 -

tine wrote:If you don't want a cat for ever then have you thought of getting a foster cat? Often just the smell of a cat is enough to clear a house of mise
And you'd be helping the puddytat and maybe even save it's life
or grab a neighbours cat, shave it then put all cuttings in lobby. lol foster cat indeed lmao:DYou're not drunk if you can lie on the floor without holding on0
