i once fixed a cooker for a lady. had problems finding the fault.
when i took the back panel off, there was an electrocuted mouse!

Oh, poor mouse. I know they are pests but I can't help feel sorry for them.

When I had mice the only luck I had was with a snappy, unhumane trap. Make sure you use something that fixes well onto the spike so that they have to tug it off. I used a french fry - like the one you get from MacD's - and stuck a bit on the spike.

If it makes you feel better - rats and mice supposedly don't like living in the same space. At least you don't have rats.
    Looking forward to the future.

I went in the loft last week and found some pipe insulation had been chewed. I set a few traps and caught 6 mice in quick succession. For the past 3 days the traps have been untouched. Anybody got an opinion on whether they have learned to avoid traps? Perhaps I have dealt with the problem?
Do mice have a breeding season or is it a continuous process?
We live in a terrace of 4 houses, neighbours one side had mice recently (kitchen)
Lastly is there a plague of mice at the moment or are we just lucky?
This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !

How can you tell whether its a mouse or rat? We had mice in the garage at christmas. They had eaten the dog food which my son had left open. There was loads of droppings. We cleared the garage etc and the council came out and did there bit. only the first lot of bait was nibbled so we got the all clear. This week the dog was sniffing madly again at a fence panel between us and next door. The fence was originally open boarded but we have used feather board to close the gaps. anyway the dog managed to move this one board today and next thing is running madly around the garden, I then spotted the tail dangling from her mouth:eek::eek:. a dead small rat/mouse was finally retrieved by me. Yuk! No idea which it is but fed up thet they are still about. We are having a new fence next week so I have asked my husband to clear down the side of the consevatory, was going to do it myself but have changed my mind!
Should I put mice or rat bait down or both or are they the same thing? I can put it between the consrvatory and fence away from the dog. Quite a few of the neighbours are having the same problem.
Oh could they be in my compost bin???? really need to move it but will leave it be if they could be in there!

Mice droppings are small and look like a black grain of rice and are hard
Rat droppings are larger (1p coin size), soft and round

Rat and mice droppings are the same shape. I agree that they are about the length of a 1p coin - mouse droppings around half the length. (I've had both pet rats and pet mice and pest mice too.)
    Looking forward to the future.

You have to place traps in the right place, mice tend to have set runs, these are normally near walls or cover where they feel safe. Try putting the traps in these areas, the best baits are not cheese, try things like chocolate etc
