Sonic dooberries are a complete and utter waste of time.
THEY DO NOT WORK
If they are not being caught in the traps, just poison the little blighters.
How do you know it is the same one visiting all these diffeent rooms?
They are not solitary creatures, and if not dealt with quickly, you could have yourself a big problem, that becomes much harder to deal with.
Poison is an anti -coagulant, they work quicker in rats than in mice, however, a week should be enough time for a mouse, provided that there is not another more tempting food source for them.0 -
Thanks for the replies. I know realistically that there's more than 1 mouse, it's just not a pleasant thought at all! We've got all the food in cupboards that definitely do not have any holes, we've both checked, and we're both tidy people so honestly have no idea what he/they could be eating.
I'll get pest control out then, that's probably going to be the easiest thing now I suppose....I'll contact the management company too (thanks, didn't think of that!) but they've been useless for other stuff, so can't see them going out their way to help me.
Thanks again!
KLead me not into temptation - I can find it perfectly well all by myself0 -
Hi all
I was wondering if anyone knew of a good pest control compnay I have a problem with mice and its time to bring in the experts if I want to keep my sanity. I am in the Preston area and also if anyone knows what I can expect to be charged.
Many thanks0 -
Dont ever use poison!!
They could end up dying in very akward places and the smell and flies and maggots will be unbearable ,you could end up having to dig up flooring ,knock through walls ect ,it gets very expensive!!!0 -

dISAGREE.
Why do pest control use it, if it is a major problem?
Yes, sometimes they die in awkward places, and even pest control cant get to them to dispose of. However, mice dont stink, rats do, but you can get a deodouriser specifically for this. And the smell doesnt last for long anyway.
Ordinary fly spray will kill any flies, though this is not usually a problem.
I certainly wouldn't recommend digging up floors and knocking through walls, just for a smelly rat that will be petrified in a short time anyway.0 -

Hi, not from your area so can't help.
Look online or yellow pages, the 'big one' that everyone knows, is very expensive.
Find out how many times they will visit for your money and if it inlcudes 'proofing'.0 -

Hi, I have caught 4 mice in the past month.
I got two with wax (glue) traps in the kitchen. I found the mice squealing in the morning. Not for the squemish as you need to kill them yourself.

(buy these from Poundland)
I caught one using a classic snap trap and some pine nuts glued on with araldite. I tried using peanut butter but they licked it clean and it didn't activate.
And I caught one using a "humane" trap which I left to die then chucked it out:

I tried poison. They ate the poison but didn't die. I bought the Rentokil poison from Poundland which is the same as the council pest control use.Has anyone tried these? I think I have visitors in my loft and would like them to move on. Just wondered how successful these are as they are quite pricey
this is the one I was thinking of getting

That's the exact one I bought. It is absolute rubbish. 2 of the 4 mice I caught were within 30cm of this device when I got them. I am still getting mice one month after installing it. It's going back 1st thing Monday as soon as I can get an RMA number from Primrose London.0 -
The poison that you can buy in the shop is certainly not the same as what professional pest control use.
Pest control have several different types that they use, ie waterproof wax blocks for outdoors, and even one that mummifies the body for awkward to reach places indoors (therefore no smell), the stuff in the shops does work (not quite as well as it is half strength), though mice can take quite a while to die from it, therefore, you must keep replacing the poison as they take it, when nothing more is being taken, then it has done its' job.
Perseverance helps:D0
