Also, another thing I've not tried, you can get ultrasound devices which you plug in which supposedly deters them.
We had some building work started a few weeks ago and mice were coming in through some open brickwork we couldn't do anything about for a while.
We kept the place clean each day and fitted 2 of the ultrasound ones, the deare ones too that were supposed to send an extra signal through the house wiring
We would get up in a morning to find the mice had been having a party within about 6 inches of the things :rotfl:It's not just about the money0 -
No forget them they don't work
Had thought as much.
Best thing to do is call the council asap. Traps will catch them, but if there's one there's bound to be more. You need someone who can really get rid of them.
Let me know what you do OP. It's really useful to know what works just in case.Looking forward to the future.0 -
Has anyone tried these? I think I have visitors in my loft and would like them to move on. Just wondered how successful these are as they are quite pricey
this is the one I was thinking of getting

Friend has used a similar one which suppose to deter rodents, insects etc. It does work but just pushes the rodents to another part of the house.
A mouse trap is the most efficient method of getting rid of these pests. Not the cheap version you see on cartoons though.Pay a bit extra and you will get a result.Motto: 'If you don't ask, you don't get!!'
Remember to say thank you to people who help you out!
Also, thank you to people who help me out.0 -
Was in Maplin this morning and noticed that they sell a twin pack for the same price, and you'd save on postage if there's a store nearby. Do you have a mains socket in the loft?
On the other hand everything I've read says that ultrasound repellers won't work if the rodents are already in residence.0 -
Thanks for your replies, looks like I may have to get me a mouse trap then :-(0

we get odd mice that the cats bring in, and a humane trap baited with CHOCOLATE has never failed to trap them.0

Anyone tried PEST REACH DELUXE FROM PEST REACH from coopers .http://www.coopersofstortford.co.uk/detail.php?productid=ST06290 Wondering if it's any good.
AFAIK havent got a rodent problem atm. We have a 13 year old cat mainly for the purpose of hopefully keeping rodents at bay. But I wonder as she is getting old now if she will bother catching any rodent visitors0 -
hi everyone
I was hoping someone could maybe give me a hand.....I've seen a mouse in my kitchen, and he's getting braver now - I've seen him in my bedroom, my lodger's bedroom and he's been spotted in the living room too.
So far, I've tried humane traps and inhumane traps, baited with chocolate, mars bar, peanut butter, sausage fat and cheese (just in case). I've also tried the sonic plug-in whatsits, and have resorted to building my own thing too, but no luck. I've tried putting peppermint oil down as someone earlier on in this thread said that mice don't like it, but that didn't make any difference. I've also put a sprinkling of talcolm powder down to see if I can find where he's coming in from, but the sodding thing appears to be levitating!
I live on the first floor in a block of flats, so unfortunately I can't get a cat (would love one, but I think it's too cruel to keep a cat inside all the time). I am *this* far from calling in pest control, as I'm getting to the end of my tether, and my lodger is starting to freak out a bit
Does anyone have any other things I could try, I really didn't want to have to use poison and that's what I assume the pest control people will use.
Sorry for the rambling post!
KathyLead me not into temptation - I can find it perfectly well all by myself0 -
Sorry - you won't just have Jerry living in his hole in the walls. There will probably be tons of the little so and sos. They are, for all their cuteness, disgusting things as urine just runs out them wherever they go. If you take an HB pencil and poke it into any gaps or holes in the skirting, walls, door frames, etc, a mouse will be able to get its head through. I'd be very careful round the back of the cooker and under the sink, too.
I'm afraid only pest control will do. Your lodger could become very snippy if you do not get this sorted. Contacting the management company for the flats would also be useful, as there must be a way they have got up to you.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0
