I bought a laptop on 19th March 2009 which worked fine when I received it. On 26th March the Laptop started to malfunction. When you typed, the letters wouldn’t work only the vowels with accents would work. Then on the 27th March the icons started not to work. Hi,

So I guess you didn't try a system restore?

Cause I know that if Vista is doing an update & the laptop crashes, then this can screw up the registry ... so you would need to do a system restore before the crash .... this error sound very similar to what I had, which is why I was suggesting you did a restore.

Anyway, at least you have managed to get a new laptop.
