This is the point I was trying to make earlier, when you stated everyone calls everyone scum, and I had to pipe up.

No one at all was calling YOU scum. There was an article in a paper most probably, which is what people were talking about. There was probably one or two people calling these people in the news scum.....nothing worse than goes on here at all.

You chose to take it somewhat personally, which is why I stated inflamatory earlier.

Honestly, DT is not a bad place, it has its characters, I'm one of them, but to label it as you did was completely false and only your perception as you took what people were saying wrong, and took it personally.

Also, as I understood it, this would be a seperate board within the arms. At the moment there are four boards. Poll results, funny money, DT and the arms itself.

The arms board itself, IS for the x-factor type stuff, that IS it's purpose. But that doesnt spill over into DT.

Not wishing to really get into a discussion about it but I responded to someone saying that all people on benefits were scum.

I pointed out very politely, giving my example, that not everyone was and in response was called scum, yes directly via pm.

And I didn't say everyone said it, I did say there was some lovely posters over there.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

Almost a year ago my OH and I were looking to buy a house. I went to the house buying / selling forum to post a question about surveys and then at some point, out of curiosity, I wandered into the house prices sub forum.

I didn't realise at that point that house prices were already falling, but I got hooked on that forum.

About 6 weeks later we pulled out of our house purchase -- partly because we learned the house needed a lot of work, but mainly because once we realised that house prices were falling and the wider economy was in trouble, a property that looked like a bargain when we put in our offer was now obviously overpriced.

Without reading the discussions and linked articles on the house prices forum, we wouldn't have thought so hard about whether it was the right time to buy a house. We might have rushed to find another property in the next few months before our mortgage offer expired. We probably wouldn't still be waiting and watching the market now, confident that in another year or two we'll be buying a house for considerably less.

The house prices forum deserves a lot of credit for keeping us from making what would almost certainly have been the biggest financial mistake of our lives. That would never have happened if the forum had been buried down the bottom of the list in the Money Saving Arms, because I'd never have found it there.

The economy, recession and house prices are as "pure money" as you can get.

    Moderate, don't marginalise, this board.

What will you do in two years if you have made the wrong decision? ;)

well then you need to broaden your horizons and look at all the other boards on this forum.

I found the arms when i first came here very easily, i think you will find most newbies will look at all the boards over time, and then most stick to the ones that interest them most.

And to be honest, this forum isnt pure money at all, it is mainly just discussion threads so it is best suited to where it may be moved to

To be honest I had never looked at DT until recently a thread was moved there. Purely by its positioning you could easily miss it.

In the one that I am referring to, you replied to one of my posts saying that you resented me saying that all people on benefits should get a job, when in actual fact I had said that people on benefits capable of work should get a job. Big difference.

Your sob story reply to mine took over the entire thread, which was when most people stopped posting (and probably when you said that it turned 'nice')

i cant believe people on here have such tunnel vision, am i in the minority that i search most boards on here? all my friends who come on here search most boards as well.

if you are being so narrow minded and not searching other boards people should, you will learn a whole lot more about things.

The house we almost bought last year sold 8 weeks after we pulled out of the purchase. It went for £40k less than we were going to pay for it. So I doubt we're ever going to feel it was a mistake not to buy it.

but its not being moved down a dark alley is it??? its being moved to one of the most popular parts of the forum (after grab it and freebies lol)

if it gets moved it might encourage new people to post and you will get a whole new set of opinions and discussions.

I respect your opinion but this is not the time or the place to be discussing my shortcomings.

We are supposed to be discussing the moving of this board, so on that note, I will bow out of this discussion.

We can continue to discuss via private message if you wish, by this I mean discuss, I am not one to throw abusive messages via that medium (or any other).

When I was a newbie I went to the house buying / selling / renting forum because I was buying a house at the time. I wandered into the house prices sub forum because it was an obviously related topic.

I've looked at some of the other boards from time to time, but not all of them.

I think the point is that "house prices, the economy and recession" is obviously linked to "house buying, selling and renting".

The one impacts on the other.
