i understand the reasons for moving the board... altho as a totally selfish and lazy point of a view....

I'd like the board to stay because I like viewing house buying and house prices/economy together so its easier to navigate... im not a moneysavers arm fan and might be put of venturing into the sub-forum but agree this place has become a hotbed of arguments from annoyed bulls and happy bears...

    Hi folks,

Just to give prior info. Im considering moving this board i(still as a seperate main board) nto the MoneySavers arms near discussion time.

While Im a fan of the board, its a talking shop and pure money is intended primarily for practical moneysaving guides and advice. So it fits better down there.

The robust nature of discussion in here can mean that those venturing in here looking for simple tips, and askign questions can be met by an unexpected tidal wave of polemic, which isn't what pure money is supposed to be.

I would like to take soundings first though - or alternative suggestions to ease this. Im sure there won't be a shortage of ideas.

It should move as this has become nothing but a name calling waste of time board.

We should have vote on it. But for obvious reasons chucky , dan and pickles should be only be allowed to vote once

oh dear evicted again... tut, tut what a disapointment you must be to be Mummy and Daddy Pig.

shame the board is going to move - some people's lives are going to change forever lol

FWIW, I think that it is better to have this as a main board as it attracts more posters. Whilst there is a fair bit of 'robust discussion' on here, we also manage to generate some good ideas about why we are where we are and where we should be going, economically speaking.

That's not the same thing as saying the board should remain in the 'Pure Money' section of course.

The history of the board means that there is an obvious connection to the housing board and the posts here tend towards the economy, particularly (but not solely) as it impacts on house prices.

On a practical level, I wonder how useful it is to keep shuffling the forums around - people don't like change by-and-large.

Ok, so I've managed to type a load of random thoughts. Great.

I'd keep the board where it is on the basis that there is little point moving it to another spot where it doesn't really fit. I guess the logical alternative would be to reshuffle the boards so all the 'new' boards that have sprung up down the months and years can fit into more natural places.

I would disagree with the move.

House prices, recession and the economy ARE pure money...not silly whatsit gossip tabloid style as seen in the arms.

If it was to move, I for one would not frequent it in no mans land of said tabloidness...I can get that from reading the Sun online.

Edited to add - If it was to move to near the Arms, then it would only denigrate further as more and more alternative egos/sign in's would occur.

and the type of threads now seen on this board aren't silly whatsit gossip tabloid style, now that alone is worth discussing

Sorry for being an interloper on your precious space.

Do not know if someone has suggested this already BUT:

Would there be an option to have two ways of looking at all the forums/boards?

i.e as they are set up at the moment and separately as to the traffic they have based on viewings and posts (popularity) - updated on a weekly basis or real time - do not know the technicalities of it

This way people would naturally visit - (out of curiosity) a forum/board they had never frequented

by just having a cursory look at where this forum is being proposed to move to in the arms discussion are, tells me that that area has nothing to do with any economy discussions. it looks more like a 'B rate' daily mail discussions area for anything under the sun, everything else other than the economy. i certainly wont be venturing there much, if ever. i guess many other similarly minded people would wander off elsewhere as it would be a pain plodding through the pointless discussions there.

unless ofcourse that the intention in moving this board is to kill off this board by slow torture on the arms discussion area! :rotfl: life would still go on but a lot would move elsewhere, but the trouble makers might just stay!

Seems a good idea the majority in here want houses to be given away with a box of cornflakes.
Any talk other than falling prices, btl scum etc,is greeted with disdain.

i think people are getting confused that this board be merged in with the discussion board. I dont think that is how it is going to be.

This board would still be a seperate board not merged in with anything, so why suddenly would posters on here stop going to it??? it is only being moved not merged in with anything else.

This is coming from someone who doesnt venture in The Arms?

The Arms is actually quite the opposite of 'silly whatsit gossip' - perhaps you should try it some time? ;)
