  • borris, it's part & parcel of the depression for me too :( i went 6 weeks without leaving the house early last year.......then realised i needed some help :o

I would like to thank you all for your advice regarding my son, he's back at school, refusing to see a counsellor, i sent him back with st john's wort. But i realise this may take time to work, if at all....
I had him on the phone this evening crying his eyes out <again>.

I really can't take it anymore. I can't sleep, i can feel myself getting lower again (just after i finally sorted myself out :() and so have decided that I am taking him out of his school....so long as i can get him a school place here that is. I've tonight emailed two more schools and hoping for a positive response from at least one. It's truly awful not being able to give your son a hug when he needs one the most. My husband doesn't agree and thinks he will do best where he is and that it is just hormones. I wish i had his outlook but unfortunately with me having had depression myself so long on and off I can see where ds is headed.

I hope everyone is doing well and hugs to those who need them :A

  • dfw, if your son reads, I really recommend a book I came across a few months ago - "Beat Depression and reclaim your Life" by Alexandra Massey. It isn't full of scientific jargon, and written by a fellow sufferer, and speaks on a "normal level" for example it has a section for when your head is "just above water". It's not a huge book for your son to wade through, it's something he could pick up and read a few pages of. It is by far the most helpful book on the subject I have come across;-

It's so good he turns to you for support, you are clearly his "rock" right now.

I hope you all have a good day; I'm off to the gym for an hour , for medicinal purposes only. I can't prune the garden again yet, there'd be nothing left.

Hi, Sorry you are struggling, have you been to see your gp?you know sh is not the answer and staying in avoiding friends will not help things.I have not posted for quite a while but I do read and like to know how the "oldies" are doing.I am fine at the moment been off meds for six months or so but will have a big drop in income in May when my youngest leaves college don't know how I am going to manage and scared I might sink back into depression.
  • Good morning everyone. I just thought I'd share my good news with you all. I got discharged from my section yesterday :)

hi everyone, feeling much more positive than i have for a few days.
have spent a few days thinking through things and talking with a councellor. i have decided to ditch some so-called friends, who were always expecting support from me, but never given any back. i'd rather have a handful of good friends than a load of not good friends.
started making new friends in the area where i live, and socialising with them.
this is the year where i am going to be kinder to myself, and hopefully make a recovery
gemini, well done on staying well, and off the meds. a big drop in income is hard, both of my sons left home last july straight after leaving school, and i lost all benefits for them, and have learnt to manage on much less, and wear coat in house to keep warm
rbk, well done on the hospital discharge, be kind to yourself

    big hugs all

    Hi peeps!
Having spent the weekend higher than a kite, and scaring myself silly, I went to see the Dr this morning (after 'putting my foot down with the receptionist yesterday, who wasn't going to give me an appointment and told me I had to call back when the books opened for this mornings appts at 08.30 this morning - I told her my depression may not let me get out of bed at that time of the morning, and I really needed to see a Dr)

Turns out it may be Bipolar! Or do I mean I may be Bipolar???......
Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.
  • Happy Wednesday all.

Well two weeks into dragging myself to the to the gym I have not noticed any improvement (apart from my addiction to subtitled Home under the Hammer), but I shall stick with it.
I was researching other things that I could do to help myself. I am sorely tempted to try taking an a-d tablet for two or three days for a "lift" out of the fog, but I want to avoid that if I can, just to see if there is anything that would really help.

Could I ask - has anyone tried upping their Omega 3 levels, and did you notice any changes if you did? I am taking a starflower oil capsule every day to help ease chronic period pain but nothing else.

hello and hope everyone okay or getting their and hugs to all that need it.
much the same for me, plodding on although i finally had enough of the nastyness in work plus the person who keeps touching my bottom as they walk past me on the till and reported it to the under manager.
apparently not a lot can be done on the way certain people are because theyre not actually talking to me, just doing it with nasty glares etc and am waiting to see with the rest.
went down like a lead ballon though esp as id one of the perpertrators still try to make it out to be me that got a problem plus be quite offhand with comments. didnt quite catch what was said but what i did catch was somthing about 'going into the office bieng nasty about others'.
will have to keep plugging on and bieng persistant i guess, it must be a shock for people to have me suddenly stand up for myself and pass back the portion of blame or whatever back to them.
also decided to give being vegan a go, going to be hard at times but dont know until you try i guess.
