Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Monday 30th March 2009. This is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly, but if not, it's not a problem.
Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Daily Threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good!
Morning all..................(((((((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))))if you need one.
Cannot sleep, decided to have a surf on the net and start the daily. OH is snoring which did not help and I appear to have been bitten by something again, two bites on my knee.
This morning when I get up get up I am off to Dunelm to do some window shopping, leaving the CC at home so I am not tempted.........
I have to get the meccano out after lunch and put the trolly together, we will need it tomorrow to get the boxes down to the car. I have asked a friend to help OH pack the car whilst I have gone to get the keys. Then it will be all systems go.
Hope its a bit warmer today than it was yesterday, it was bright but the wind was very cold.

Morning Csarina and everyone else who follows.
I'm hoping that it's a better day here than it was yesterday, it seemed to rain all day. I've got a couple of loads of washing that I'd like to get hung outside!
My DH was snoring too, so that's been keeping me awake for the last wee while. Slept well though for the time I was asleep, so that's been a bonus.
Had a lovely time on the mainland and enjoyed meeting up with friends. Managed to get to the cinema and we saw Slumdog Millionaire - clever film! We took a day trip to Edinburgh on Friday, so that we could watch the Edinburgh v Connacht rugby match. A mad idea at the time and we paid for it yesterday, as we were both really tired, but it was good, as Edinburgh won the match
Got a busy week ahead at work and need to catch up with the housework with being away at the weekend.....
Hope everyone has a good day and hugs all round.0 -
Morning peeps
cold this morning but hopefully another bright and sunny day later, i tip-toed down the garden at 5am to open the windows in the greenhouse.
I took full advantage of a quiet house yesterday afternoon and got lots of little jobs done so i`m feeling quite pleased with myself, on the way home i managed to squeeze into homebase just before closing time for a bag of vermiculite for my square foot gardening pots
The little black cat was extra fussy last night, i think that she misses the doggies when they are away as there is no one to [strike]torment[/strike] play withThe wm should be almost finished by now so i can hang it all on the line this afternoon and there is a lovely seeded brown loaf cooling in the kitchen, the dw will need emptying too later as i didn`t have time to do it before i left the house.
Spinach and chick pea curry for tea tonight, a nice easy one as i made and froze it a while ago, it is thawing atm.
Csarina - good luck with your house move, hope everything goes smoothly.
I`m off to do some w*rk but i shall pop back later to see how everyone is.
Have a good Monday peeps.
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon0 -
Morning peeps!
Been MIA for a few days -changed estate agents last week. Chap came round Friday eve, called Sat a.m. to say we had a viewer! DD and I worked like Trojans, stuffing things in cupboards and under beds, hoovering, polishing etc. etc. Viewer seemed to love house - said it was the best one they had seen so far. They are in rented so looking to move quickly. Watch this space....
Had a lovely day in Brighton yesterday. Went to visit my sister to celebrate her belated birthday, Mother's Day, my new job and the start of the Easter break for DD and my niece. Unfortunately, I have another week at school before I break up - AND LEAVE TO START MY NEW JOB:j
DSis is very OS - she cooked a beautiful pot-roast brisket of beef, pots gratin, carrots, yorkies and gravy. I took leeks from the garden. Parents obviously brought us up well OS!!!
HM soup and HM bread to school for lunch. Then LO pot roast being turned into cottae pie for tea:j WM on overnight, BM just beeped, house smells lovely!
Hugs to all who need them,

Morning all,
It's been a miserable wet day here. Can't really complain as we don't have many but what the heck I will.Made 2 Homity Pies . One for tea & one for the freezer. Also made some granola. Defrosted the freezer & been making an inventory. I can't believe how much soup we've got. Be nice in winter though.
Off to Bingo tonight. Before then I really must shave my legs. DS2 is coming down next week and he'll be here for Easter.
Meanmarie The Oz records have been great. DH's family springs from Ireland, went to Barbados & mixed with the nativesand finally ended up here and became a bushranger. Common as muck.:p Went to jail for 15 years. Married, had kids and became a law abiding citizen.
Churchmouse Welcome back home.
Well DH has just arrived home so off to make a cuppa. <hugs> to those not well. ByeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeDon't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -

Morning all,
Bl***y H**l its freezing  there is a thick frost outside, will have to scrape the car off, and the heating is off  , it will be a quick run round to get dressed this morning.
Lots to do today, need to hoover through and clean house, at least one load to put through the wm, I need to make cakes, tins are empty, and do an online shop, and do an hour on the wii fit.
Roast pork for tea tonight, we were going to have it yesterday, but dd was at her nans, and had a roast there, so OH and I ended up with a hm curry, which was very nice
OH and I grouted the tiles in the conservatory yeaserday, they look great, but its such a boring back breaking job, still its done now, just the patio to do, and then we are ready to go :T
Hugs to all in need today xx0 -
Good morning everyone. It's very dull and dark here but the wind has died down and it's dry so not all bad.
I have my grand-daughter coming for tea tonight so I'm going to have to find something nice.At the moment I have no idea what we're having.
Just washing, ironing and house cleaning today.I got loads done outside yesterday as it was the most beautiful warm, sunny day and we spent the whole day outside.
I hope everyone has a good day and the weather turns out nice.
Take care all........0 -
¡Hola!
The Rain in Spain - yes yesterday we had a very rainy day and sun/cloud/light rain forecast for the next couple of days, 10C outside. Mustn't grumble as it is the first daytime rain we have had since being here, and it may just encourage me to tackle the ironing mountain, and a spring clean of our bedroom is also under threat.
Still following orders on exercise 1 hours walking a day, found loads of new beaches while doing that, but resorted to Wii Fit exercise yesterday. Also following diet instructions grilled chicken/turkey/fish with green veg (no carbs) for main meal, no sauces, no oil. Done that and cut back everywhere else too, no alcohol, no sugary drinks/biscuits/chocolate, Special K type cereal with skimmed milk for breakfast, 2-3 Ryvitas with a little pate for lunch, fruit, coffee with skimmed milksweetners, result -1lb in 2 weeks:mad: it is so boring, you don't even care if you have it or not, but have to have it as you would be hungry and snack otherwise. I don't know what else I can cut out, only upping the walking to 2 hours but not sure legs/feet would stand it, they are not over happy as it is.
Aussie - what has shaving legs got to do with DS2 coming to see you? Hope you are feeling better. Fingers crossed Lillibet. Csarina Good Luck with the move. :grouphug: Smoky/P-Pin/and all others feeling less than 100%. :grouphug:
Belated Anniversary wishes Taplady that's love, getting up around 4am to help DH do his milk round, probably meant you were both too tired to celebrate a la Hester
Take care all
