I wasn't trying to be patronising. Some people may be asking the same question but don't know as much as you already do, so I was just trying to clear things up for you (having now realised that I didn't need to) as well as others reading on here.redux wrote:Don't patronise me please; I was looking at the bigger picture
Did I?but you've left the high level of dealer commission out of the reckoning.
Or is there something else missing. Obviously the commission that they get from Orange must be HUGE if they are going all guns ablazing by having these crazy deals with increased cashback incentives and offers.*!*HIBS*!* wrote:They get commission from Orange for each new customer that signs up and bonus commission for reaching sales target. They have increased their cashback offer because maybe they have not reached their Orange sales target yet, and want the bonus commission for surpassing the sales target.Orange may get a guaranteed amount of £240, but it has cost them well over £300 to acquire that customer, just as my £35 a month to O2 will cost them somewhere near £500, and an old T-mobile one cost them £200 for £159.60 income.
I can see your point here but as I was saying in my previous post, they can make up the money for when customers spend over their usage or things that are not included on their tariff.
Also if they make a loss here in the examples that you gave, think of how much money they will save on advertising for new customers. (I think it costs more to get new customers than to retain customers?)*!*HIBS*!* wrote:...plus extras that the customer will use if they go over or its not included in their tariff.
Lower tariff users may be subsidised by high tariff users (or users that spend quite alot of money on their contract each month) so in a way it is sort of balanced out. Anyway I am sure that these companies can cope with these losses in order to draw people in, making them spend their money with them (if they were not orignially going to) so that their finance books look good for their shareholders.
Like I said before it was late and I kept changing my response that I was going to post so in the end I forgot to add this bit. Thanks for adding it in though.Alltheloginsaretakenappar wrote:There's other factors too:
Many people forget to claim their cashback and so e2save etc will have budgeted for this and not for 100% of people claiming it back.

Exactly!
Its only short of £10. Either way if you sign up for a 12 month free line rental and you don't go over the free limits then you will be paid for having the contract.:j 0 -
I've e-mailed e2save to say that I've found a better mobile that they offer on their website on onestopphoneshop.com with 11 months free line rental as opposed to their 6. However I had already place an order for another phone on their website that is showing out of stock (so can't be dispatched) for about 7 days. Do you think that they will change the contract type and phone or just cancel my contract all together, because it hasn't started to be honest.
I'm sure I read somewhere theat e2save and onestoppphoneshop were the same company, is that true? If so then they might merge strike a deal for me?
What do you think?
Thanks

I got my wife a pink razr a couple of months ago through quidco and we got it quickly. In fact before her old ones contract ran out so no problems there. quidco tracked the transaction and I should get the cash very soon. Last year I bought a phone off threemobilephones.com and after six months and sending my bills I got almost £300 cashback. I then lowered my contract and ended up "making" money for buying the phone. Sadly they dont do that deal any more so I went with e2save. Some of them look dodgy. Another phone I got was through talkworldonline.com and we got cashback which covered the whole year too. For both of them it took some nudging and about 6 - 8 weeks extra to get the cashback but it was worth it.0
