It's hard to believe. You should get into the habit of checking your meter regularly, at least once a week. Especially if you've been away since that will give you some idea if the meter is faulty or not.

nope heating is on gas! Thankfully though we've started talking about moving anyway as we are in a rental and might find something cheaper rent wise which should help make up these big bills! In fairness we dont check our meter as much as we should purely because since we started up our own business theres just no time for little odd jobs like that - unless its something to do with the computer equipment is doesnt get done lol - although thanks I think I will start taking note of the meter readings and see what the next bill shows up as! Hopefully I will have the last laugh in that call centre.....
