  • I also got this letter this morning addressed to the occupier, so came straight on here to check it out....

What is very bizarre about the letter is the date they mention - 20-05-05, that is the date we purchased the house and moved in. We have been with EDF Energy since that time and have never moved from them...

think it will be filed under B 1 N !!!!

Beware this does take time a long time
    phone british gas on 0800 072 5230
select accounts and star then hash and wait
they have accounts back to 1990
quote customer reference number on the letter
b gas can then give you all info relating to the account
ttIspc are a debt collector i think in house for b gas
    sp1 relates to b gas
this letter is a fish on old accounts ie more than 5 years old
but bgas will investigate the debt and get back to you also as it is 0800 all you have got is time to allocate for
If like me you paid the demand then bgas will have to re-imburse you
but the letter can be ignored this debt has already been written off if it even existed
and i got the impression alot are non existent
  • I got a similar letter today, but from a company called past due credit solutions.
addressed to the occupier, stating that I need to pay £61.88 to a company called TTI SPC for SP1

think I'll just ignore it now.

I'm very confused now. We received a letter exactly the same as everybody else's. I called them and told them I was going to phone British Gas to verify it. The man I spoke to also pointed out the VAT number etc. and said he understood me wanting to check things out but that he couldn't send me an invoice because, as we only took over the property part way through the period in mention, we are only required to pay part of the fee.

Anyway having looked up the website I was still unsure and then came across this site. Phoned up British Gas feeling sure they'd say it is a scam and they said that this is a real company and it is a company that they use. However they couldn't check my account details for this period as it was 4 years ago and we are no longer with British Gas.

I don't know what to think now, but have 7 days to pay in order to 'benefit' from a reduction in the fee.

I got the letter too. It's from before I even lived here! Apparently British Gas sold the debt to a company called TTI SPC who have now employed pastdue credit to collect it for them.

Contacting British gas won't help - I did that months ago, shortly after I moved in, when I got letters from them about the debt. They assured me I wouldn't be chased for it any longer which was a blatant lie as I'm now being hassled by pastduecredit.

Don't phone pastduecredit on the 0871 number on the letter or it'll cost you a fortune! Use this number instead 0141 951 3666 I got through on that no bother. They claim they'll take my address off the records but I'm not holding my breath .... it annoys me though that it could affect my credit rating as that debt will be registrered against this address.

Ok I STUPIDLY listened to this website. I also ignored an occupier letter afew months back, turns out it was actually for me from a supply period a long time ago (2004-2005) from a previous address. when they finally caught up with me after the final demand letter was sent (Past due credit solutions i think???) We had to go to court, i didnt beleive it we actually lost our case (they had substantial proof that i missed several payments 4-6 years ago - could have sworn i was up to date with my direct debits) and also had to pay THERE legal fees) turned out it was an outstanding Biritsh gas balance (i didnt know who tti spc were, turns out they buy debts from large companies).

My oustanding balance was 145.00 (trivial) Was adv by my lawyer bailiffs could be a real possiblily although i would probably just have to pay the balance over a period of time. I wasnt working so i had to pay 10.00 per week until the balance was paid. My credit rating is totally !!!!!!ed... i was adv they had gave me a bad credit rating way before the 3rd letter was even sent (Couldnt even get an mobile phone on contract the other week). Serves me right for ignoring final demand letters... how stupid could i be :(:( I hope they get whats coming to them!!!

PS. There telephone number was six pence a minute a glaswegian gentleman said, a lot when your on a pay as you go phone, so i didnt phone back!!
  • I have also had bad experience with direct recovery solutions, unspecific debt claim, 'ring us', etc. Origins in British Gas billing for a period before I took over as their customer: small part of bill was my liability.

DRS's methods breached OFT guidelines on debt recovery. If the same applies to you, report to OFT who can revoke their licence if there are enough breaches.

  • Hello there

Can anyone help, please (apologies but first time posting!!!). I thought I would add to this thread as I have also received a letter from ttispc (PO Box only - also known as Clanchatton Birmingham Ltd but same registered address - interesting bit that it was from a Gordon Mattison who appears to be a managing director of an offshore business solutions company as well) acting on behalf of British Gas. I checked both names out on Companies House and they do exist. Trouble is, this was from 2005!! to my name before I got married and to my old address (we moved in June 08) but was re-directed.

I do owe BG as I had hassle trying to get them to send me an invoice that was to the residential address and not as a business address. I called on 6 occasions and told it would change, to no avail (I then changed suppliers anyway) they said it wouldn't matter whether it was business or residential as the charge would be the same. Is this true? Am I wasting my time in getting a new invoice? or should I ignore it?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, please.
    Thanks for your time.....
