Im sorry I couldnt work out hwere to post. I received a letter today, well my house did from a company called 'direct recovery solutions' saying they need to contact me urgetnly regarding elctric supply to my address in 2004. It was adressed to 'the occupier' and I would usually just throw those away. I also wasnt living here in 2004. Is it just some sort of scam and should I ignore it or is there possibly somthing sinsiter going on?
many thanks

It is not impossible that one of the previous owners/tennants didn't pay the bill and they are chancing that they can get you to pay. I'd ignore it - they are just fishing, if they weren't they would write to you properly.£34,547 (Dec 07); Current debt: £zilch (Debt free December 2010)

I would ignore it, it is probably a company 'fishing'
...Linda xxIt's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.0 -
We have also received a letter from this company addressed to 'THE OCCUPIER'.
Saying that they are contacting us on behalf of 'British Gas' and the client 'TTISPC' for 'SP1' regarding the Electricity Supply.?.?
They ask you to ring an 0870 number.
As I was unable to find an alternative free phone number on 'SAYNOTO0870' I contacted British Gas.
We were advised that our account is clear and not to contact them.
There has been a lot of views for this post, so it makes me wonder if this is a scam & a mail shot has been sent out. :cool:0 -
So glad I found this thread as I didn't want to call the number and was having trouble finding info. We received this letter today regarding our 'energy supply from British Gas' specifically the 'gas supply at this address from 05/05/2006'
I was suspicious because the letter was on such cheap paper, they didn't have a website and I found a site for the Complete Credit Management company they claim to be part of, but there's no reference to Direct Recovery Solutions on there. They are obviously making money from the 0870 number they want you to call and who knows what information they can glean from unsuspecting innocents afraid that the bailiffs may come knocking if they don't deal with it. I think it's disgusting :mad:0 -
It's funny I received one of these very same letters this morning refering to gas supply from 09/05/06. I called the number wishing to "sort out the issue" then twigged when i heard an "on-hold message" that this was an 0870 premium number! I put down the phone and shall be contacting British Gas to report this apparent scam0

Please also report to OFCOMIf you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0

we've received the letter from Direct Recovery Solutions (registered trading name of Complete Credit Management Limited) today too (03.04.09), asking us to call them about a matter regarding our energy supply from British Gas, on behalf of their client TTISPC for SP1 from 2002 (!!!).
no specific names, details about the problem, just asking to contact them, giving us only the premium 0870 number.
we'll ignore the letter and report them to OFT (oft.gov.uk).
a good case for Watchdog, will drop them a line too.
can't believe companies get away with this form of "legal phishing".0 -
