My rescue cats rescued me!

I remember reading a story about a guy who was on a waiting list to have had foot amputated (can't remember what the condition was). His dog took a notion of licking the poorly foot every night. During one of the pre-surgery check ups the consultant noticed that the foot had began to improve. It end up that the guy didn't have to have his foot amputated. The surgeon reckoned that the dog's licking had stimulated the circulation in the foot and had helped it heal itself.
Our pup is mad for trying to lick monkeyboy's plague psoriasis, but then she also likes to sleep with her head on his crotch so I think she's just a bit of a minger lolThe stupid things you do, you regret... if you have any sense, and if you don't regret them, maybe you're stupid. - Katharine Hepburn0 -

Racyred, we need photos of your three now!
I agree, it might be worth seeing if you can get this written up somewhere. Your story may be brilliant for getting some coverage and publicity for them, and for the wonderful animals in rescues up and down the country!0 -
This is such a heart-warming story, particularly as it probably saved your life. I have owned or been around cats most of my adult life and my respect for them and their amazing awareness of their environment just grows and grows.
One amusing episode from years back is still fresh in mind. We had adopted two elderly cats, Roxy (mother) and Tom (her son) who had a front leg missing due to a car accident when a kitten. Usually they slept in the lounge at night.
One night they both came tearing into the bedroom and jumped all over me until I was obliged to get up. They then started to run back and forth to the lounge wanting me to follow, and there they jumped onto an armchair and just staired fixedly at the curtain-covered French doors.
I proceeded to peel the curtains apart expecting to find a burglar, to be confronted by a baby deer just like Bambi with its wet nose pressed against the glass and two huge eyes blinking at me. It must have strayed off the local common and found a weak spot in our boundary.
The cats were utterly fascinated, as was the deer who showed no fear, and the four of us spent a couple of hours on the patio together whilst the three furry companions shared some cat food. It was one of the sweetest moments I've ever experienced.

Wow! Ok, I'll see if they are interested! Thank you for the suggestion :A
Here are my beautiful caring babes
:A Yogi - the chest thumping boy with the loud meow
:A Sandpaper tongued Daisy
:A Finger chewing Skye
At least, I *think* it was Daisy doing the licking and Skye chewing my fingers, they have equally sharp teeth and tongues so it I may have reversed their roles for them (I wasn't exactly with it at the time). No doubt about the ton weight on my chest - 7 kilos of cat walking about on you is not something you mistake, no matter what condition you are in.
I am so proud of and grateful to them. My family had been a bit concerned about my cat collecting habit, but now they are really grateful that I have them. If this had happened before they arrived in my life the outcome could have been very different.
Maureen, Dennis, Roxy and Tom are really beautiful cats, and your photos are so good
:TMy first reply was witty and intellectual but I lost it so you got this one instead
