Head lice are a pain in the backside!! I'd tried all the lotions and potions on the market on my 4 year old and yet she still came back every week with them from the other children. The only thing that worked in the end was baby oil. Shove it in the hair, comb through (they were practically jumping out) and wash. I used to leave some oil in her hair for a few days though just to be sure they didn't come back. It's a godsend!

I gave that a try - mixed it with some tea tree oil - but can't remember the results. My main problem at the moment is the eggs. They die but hang around in her hair looking awful (ugh!) Fortunately half term means a week off so maybe the cycle will be broken.

Today I called the hospital and I have an appointment next Wednesday  Being half term means I will have to take the mini-Me's with me, but the elder two can keep the younger one entertained during the times when I'm actually with the Dr. Am surprised I got in so quickly, but also pleased. I really wanted to see them before I had my DLA tribunal in June.

Blimey, how many days since I posted on this?! Hmmm, let's see.

Saw the Consultant - wants me to lose weight before they consider surgery. Saw my Dr who prescribed Orlistat (do not read the side effects whilst eating - seriously :rotfl: )

Had a fantastic half term with my munchkins - blowing bubbles in the garden, lots of cuddles, dvds, general madness! :D Am really enjoying work - strange, but true.

    Scary bits:

    * Final electric and gas bills from old house. Come to over £300 :( So gonna be another very lean month as I have swapped suppliers so need to pay these asap.

    * The car cost me over £500 last month, and needs at least £300 worth of stuff doing to it. Unfortunately, I need the car (as in, without it I am completely housebound) so am going to have to find the money to get all that done as well :(

    Potentially good bits:

    * XHTB moves out of the house we rented in June, which means I should be getting back my half of the deposit by the end of the month  Now just praying they don't bash him over the head for cleaning, etc like they did me

    * Applied for WaterAid as I have the three kids and on HB, and got a letter saying they were capping my Water Meter which is excellent news!!! :D

Quick question: I got a pension statement from a company I used to work for years ago. Does anyone know if I can cash that in? It's not a huge amount but would obviously make a big difference to me?

And last but not least, I have my DLA appeal this month - am bricking it, have no idea whether or not I will be successful, but am going to just be honest. The worst that can happen is I have to start the process all over again, right!?!

    Hi Merry,

I've only read the last 3 pages of your thread (will catch up with all later) but just wanted to say that I have a similar back/hip problem. I applied for DLA last October and was awarded it in February this year. I got someone like DIAL to help me fill it in then gave a photocopy to my Doctor so that when DLA contacted him he had the information to hand. He said as he wasn't with me 24/7 this was the best way he could see to help him complete the forms. I have also kept a copy for renewal time (next year) comes up.

Hope you have a good weekend,

    MOT xx

Thanks MOT. I wish I had done that - I did them myself and only went to DIAL when I was turned down. If the appeal fails, I will be hotfooting it to them to ask for proper help filling it in! Do you mind me asking - what rate did you get?

I got HRM and LRC - the twins have to put my socks on for me and cook meals when I am at my worst which is virtually every day! I also have a friend who changes my bedlinen for me as this something I can't do either.

I find it difficult to walk more than about 20yds without being in excruitiating pain and can't stand for more than a few seconds - have to sit down, queuing in a bank is a nightmare!

I definitely did it wrong - made the mistake of showing how I was coping rather than the things I couldn't do. But I decided to go ahead with the appeal as I've gone this far. As I say, if I am turned down, I'll start again.

Yeah, my elder two do the cooking as I can't - last time I tried I managed to spill boiling water over myself which was less than pleasant :(

Thank God for online banking and shopping is all I can say!! Thanks MOT, it helps to know, from you and Phil, that deserving people can and do get the assistance they need.

    Update on me:

    * I had to ask for a adjournment to my DLA Appeal. DIAL lost the medical reports they had received from my GP and from my Consultant, and my representative couldn't attend with me due to a family medical emergency. I have been on the phone to my Consultant's secretary who has the letter requesting the report and has put it his tray. Fortunately, I had my last appointment with the Consultant on 29th May so the report should be up to date. The report from my GP is based on January so not as up to date, but at least we have it.

    * Paid my final bills for the old house and boy, did that sting. Going to be a very lean month but it's nice to know that I no longer owe anything;

    * Can't afford to get the car fixed this month which is a bit of a downer - it needs a hub replacing, and they have told me it's safe to drive which is good, but I want it done as quickly as possible - I don't like to push my luck with these things.

    * XHTB has moved out of the rented house, but they won't give him his deposit back until he pays the final bills. So no deposit back for me for a little while. Added to which his discharge has been delayed because he still owes them tax money from his nil tax code, so his bankruptcy is lasting longer than a year. :(

Bizarrely, it has only just occurred to me that I have been paying huge amounts of money out repairing the car, paying off final bills, etc all without credit . Scary but satisfying to know that I have managed to do that (so far). I have done nothing about cleaning up my credit report yet, although I have sent two copies of my bankruptcy and discharge letter to O2 so maybe that could be the first step.
