Do you mind if I ask some advice?

I am working really hard on my essay and work etc is really busy. My posture has gone to pot and I end up with quite a sore back. I feel it would be fair to treat myself to a massage when I finish my essay and to encourage me to get into looking after myself (am going to find a yoga class in April and start walking for 30-60 mins per day).

I have had a couple of poor massages where it feels like they are just stroking your back and really want one where the masseuse (sp) really irons out the knots.

Would going to the local college be good enough? How do I make sure I get what I want and need?

    Thanks in advance

Happy to provide any advice, massage is the name of my game!

It sounds like you would be better off with a deep tissue massage which works the problem areas really getting into the muscle and focusing on tension areas and knots.
Here is a link to my webpage where you can find out a bit more about deep tissue massage. http://www.driftawaytherapies.co.uk/driftawaydeeptissue.html

Swedish massage is only light and wont get into the tension areas and although deep tissue can be slightly painful, everyone i have treated has said how much they prefer the deep tissue as they can really feel the difference.

A local college is unlikely to offer deep tissue massage as most colleges only really teach people swedish massage. If you do have a massage do not go to a beauty parlour as they are often only taught massage as an add on, no offence to people who do beauty!

Best place to look if you are interested in a massge is on this website.

    http://www.healthypages.co.uk/forum/

There are a great bunch of massage therapists on there, you can either look under their directory or put an add on the massage section to find out more about them.

Any more questions feel free to ask, i love talking about massage!

Aww thanks SM, has taken a lot of hardwork and was created by me so am never sure how good it is. Not that i want everyone to say how wonderful it is, but your never quite sure how someone else perceives it, so am glad you like it:D

In fact its rather ironic, as have come home and found i have two enquiries relating to my business, so am feeling fairly happy with this. I still get excited each time i get a new enquiry or new business!!

Ooooh wish I could have one of your deep tissue massages, I reckon that would help my chronic low back pain. I try not to take any medication for it, if it gets bad then I use a tens machine. Great website Andan :)
  • Wow what a great setup Andan. It all looks very interesting.
