I'm reading this thinking how strange it is to say A chip:rotfl:
I've lived in the west of Ireland, so I'm familar with the term, but I haven't heard it for a while.
Do you fancy goin for a poke after you're finished yer chip then MrsE?The stupid things you do, you regret... if you have any sense, and if you don't regret them, maybe you're stupid. - Katharine Hepburn0 -

I doubt it. Only the english and west Orish mention pokes. at home we call them sliders
Not true, plenty of people in Belfast still refer to cones as pokes, sliders are a slice of ice cream between two wafers. The stupid things you do, you regret... if you have any sense, and if you don't regret them, maybe you're stupid. - Katharine Hepburn0 -
Hrm down here in Kent the prices range from £1-£1.50 I think for the small. The place that is £1 isn't all that small a portion either as sometimes my mate and I would buy one during our college lunch and share it! I don't think the price has gone up there but if it has I'd say only to £1.10 and the same sized portion as they don't like ripping people off there as everyone else in the area raised their prices and he refused last time I was there. We can usually buy enough chips for the 4 of us in this house for under £5. I think my parents would stop buying chips from the chippy if they were as dear as NI  . I certainly would!I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy0
