    Thanks poles. :)

No deposit was requested so. I feel a bit better. Got it working no problems.

Our business got it's first contract today. I was so chuffed when I received the purchase order on Friday. And we have been offered a second job too so it's been a successful month all find so far. Long may it continue! My wedding dress arrived too so I can go and try that on - booked for a fitting on 3rd September. So excited.

What a lot of nice things happening all at once.

I would love to try a wedding dress on. Not that I am in any way desperate to get married but it must be quite unlike wearing anything you've ever worn before. I've often thought I'd go along to a wedding dress shop and just pretend but then I'd feel really bad for wasting the assistant's time.

Hope your fitting goes well :)

It's quite surprising actually. I wear (or at least, I USED to wear) a lot of evening gowns so I was looking for spmthing quite different but still ended up with a formal looking garment. And I only ended up trying on three dresses. The one I chose was the first o had tried and I knew I would get it as soon as it was on. I was actually a but disappointed as I had really been looking firward to it but when it came to it, I surprised myself.

I never envisioned getting wed so had no idea about anything much but it's looking like it might all pull together after all. I gave six and half weeks and my stomach is in knots every time I say that. Lol

The point about a lot of good things is certainly true and it seems to be continuing. We have more work offered and the possibility of a longer contract if all goes well on these mini ones. H2b is 43 now and is starting to feel the years creeping up on him so he is determined to have one last shot at becoming a millionaire. Lol. X

had a fantastic day but no longer debt free!! think we owe about £5k but our car has also gone kaput so thats even more money. :(
but we are on top of it as far as we can be and should have it paid off before Christmas.
It was three years ago today that I went bankrupt. feels like a lifetime ago already. Just a shame we can't have a joint account yet but only three years to go and we are doing everything together now anyway all of a sudden which is nice. Still trying to change my name everywhere! ITs all such a palaver!

    anyway, introducing the happy couple..

    thank you swinstie.

i am having 'one of those days' today. losing money left right and centre. My dd gave me the change from her subs yesterday.. about £30 in an envelope. now, i hadn't left the house before i lost it so it MUST be somewhere but at the moment, your guess is as good as mine!
then, i took out £20 from cashpoint so i could give some money to the childminder but have managed to lose that. no idea how or why or where. luckily, i am not twice out of pocket cos cm didn't show but its still money! then i went to pay in a couple of cheques into the bank that we were given for our wedding. two of three were adressed to mr and mrs so as i don't have any accouts in my name yet, i went to put them in HIS account only to be told that i am not allowed to as they are addressed to us both and therefore HAVE to be paind into a joint accoutn. !!!!!!?! so we have more money we can't touch and can't open joint accoutn for another three years. prob is, the cheques were given by elderly relatives so i am gonna have to write them off cos i can't leave it much longer not fair on their budgeting and i am just generally having an 'i feel pants and gonna wallow' type day. :( hope i perk up soon. af must be on her way! lol

totally rare but i just had the greatest of pleasure telling a debt collection agency about my bankruptcy. :)

the debt they were attempting to chase is one from when i was in a hostel FIFTEEN years ago :o surely that would be past its date anyway? they did try and collect from me in 2001 and that was the last i heard. the biggest joke is, this is one debt i had actualy paid off (was only about £300) but there is no record of my payment apparently. (that is what MH told me years ago)

anyway, the opertive was actually quite polite for a change (they have called my parents in the past and had my mum in tears shouting at her) and told me they will delete my stuff from their records. don't believe it for a minute but its really satisfying being able to shut them up like that. :)

And we even have a joint account now. :D
Just gotta earn enough money to get all our joint payments going through same account. Only problem is that tax credits take three weeks for a decision and that is a week after they would usually be due so yet again I am going to fall behind on a couple of payments. Not ideal. Hopefully we will be solvent once all our back payments come thru. Fingers crossed.

I am so not liking this month so far.
Got a letter last week about making sure my claim is correct etc. It was dated 2nd November and addressed to me in my old name.
I called them and they apologised but still had no record of receiving my new claim. I called back today and they said they HAVE received my new claim but it has not been processed yet. They received it on 3rd November. Until they process it, it is difficult to say how long we have to wait for a payment. I am now about ten weeks behind on my rent which I was expecting to have sorted by now. I can’t apply for HB until I know what my TC claim is worth but the truth is, I really do not want to claim HB. I can manage it, even if it is a struggle, when I am getting my full allowances. I feel so lost. On the one hand, I am not too concerned as I know it will right itself but in the mean time, I think my HA are getting sick of my telling them that I am waiting for a payment. They are notorious for kicking people when they are down and I know of people who have been evicted over HB errors/delayed payments so I don’t really stand a chance if they take it to court. :(

Luckily, DH is due some money in the next week or so although it doesn’t even come close to what we owe out. Our broadband was cut off yesterday and I had to scrape the money together to pay that because I need the BB to work and send invoices etc. I have also had to upgrade due to high use. Its going to work out cheaper in the long term but its really pinching for now. I thought I had been so good as I had paid all outstanding bills before the wedding to cover me for at least a month after and then some for other bills. I expected to have my finances sorted by now but it is looking a tad gloomy. I hope next time I update, it will be with some good news!

  • WooHooo!!!!! Finally, an update with some good news. :D To be fair, this update could really have come a lot sooner given all my moaning prior but hey, better late than never right?

O, Firstly, Tax credits. Claim went through and I got my backdated money too so that was about 8 weeks. My rent arrears were cleared immediately and I am completely up to date to the end of this year. School dinners and childcare got paid. I am off for the whole of the crimbo so no further costs incurred. We are staying home so no travelling expenses. Presents were mostly home made with the odd novelty gift thrown in for the kids which cost pennies from netpricedirect. In all honesty, the cost of sending the family parcel cos me more than the gift itself! ouchies!

Broadband seems to be working fine aside from the odd blip while weather has been bad and despite the bankruptcy, sky still took me back on their books after having offered us a whole year at half price. :) DH and I agreed that we would cancel after the year as neither of us elieve it is worth the full price but its nice in the hols for the kids to have something to watch. That is, when DH is not hogging the remote. (lol).

We do have a fresh lot of bills due in the new year but I have already sorted out a 'payment plan' to cover most of them so I hope that by April, we will only be paying rent and childcare out of our income and the rest will have have been 'prepaid' leaving us more disposable income however, there are a few family gatherings next year so It may be more like June before we are solvent for the year.

Hope to have lots more good news to share in the new year.

Merry Christmas to all and wishing a happy and prosperous and debt free new year. :) xxx
