Cooking oil has to be processed before you use it in cars,

Not for all makes, many can run on straight veg oil or a % mix of diesel / veg oil.

    ello :)

Just wondering ... only used the fryer once and never had to dispose of such a large quantity of oil before and definitely don't want to put it down the sink!

    Any advice?

Take it to your local recycling centre and they'll recycle it for you :D

I'll add this to the exisitng thread so that you can browse other suggestions.

    Hello!!

Yesterday I've changed the oil in my deep fat fryer for the first time, but now I don't know what to do with it?

How do you dispose of yours? It's about 2.5l of old oil...

    Thank you

I don't have a fryer, but my recycling centre will take it :)

I'll add this to the exisitng thread later, to keep ideas together.

  • The best use I can find for used oil is to mix it with sawdust (2L oil to 20L sawdust approx) and use the mixture to resuscitate a dying fire or you can put it in the bottom of a barbecue to speed up the lighting of the charcoal.

If you have lots, it can be used as a fuel for wood stoves and the like, but it needs a warm environment to light it (turning the oil into vapour).
