Deep Fat Fryer - Oil Disposal
Comments
-
When I had my deep fat fryer, I would allow the oil to cool and then filter it back into the bottle it came in, using a funnel and coffee filter papers.
I then used it in general cooking when a splash of oil was needed.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 203.0 -
I used to use the funnel method and kitchen roll as well. I also use an old squash bottle and a funnel for fat / oil that needs disposing of, we do reguar tip runs anyway so it's not too extravigent this way.It matters not if you try and fail, and fail and try again; But it matters much if you try and fail, and fail to try again.

Do you have a diesel car or know anyone who does?
You'd have to check it out but I am sure you can use used cooking oil for diesel cars.
My mum however uses the oil in her deep fat fryer a few times, until the chips start tasting horrible, then she changes it.I don't believe and I never did that two wrongs make a right0 -
Cooking oil has to be processed before you use it in cars, just fill it into a milk cartoon and dump it, it's biodegradable.
Don't change your cooking oil too often, it's at it's best when it has been used a few times. Only change it when the food doesn't taste as good.0 -
We tip ours down the sink.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member No.11.

That will end up either blocking your sink pipes or the waste pipes outside your house.0

Pouring oil down the drain will probably block it after a while. The easiest way to get rid of it is in a plastic bottle in the rubbish bin.
However, you can use it again a few times, depending on what you fried in it. I try to use new oil a few times for dishes that leave a lot of oil left over, like deep fried anything, but rather than use it till it goes bad, I use the left over oil up in dishes that consume the oil. Shallow frying, or in bread dough or baked potatoes. I don't normally throw oil away now.0 -
Hi brandnewday,
There's an earlier thread on disposing of oil from a deep fat fryer so I've added your thread to it to keep the suggestions together.

thanks for your advice! I think I'll keep it in the fryer until the next time I need it. I don't think there are any bits in it. Maybe after another use I'll pour it in a plastic bottle and just throw it away.:beer:0
