ok so managed to download and open it. when i run it it will bring up a box that says please wait, combofix is preparing to run. it will also close IE. but that is all it does (7m plus)

am i just being impatient or should it start straight away?

also, how do i scan and get it off of my usb stick? my copy of norton will not let me scan a specific drive. and even if it could it has proved unable at dealing with the trojan thus far

the control panel of your antivrus should have an option to choose where to scan

finally found the bit on norton - that couldnt find anything

housecall says it cannot find anything either but my usb was blocked today in work because the antivirus stuff there thinks that it is infected with this trojan.

is running malwarebytes and hijack this enough if i cannot get combofix to work?

superantispyware found a hell of a lot more tracking cookies than norton ever detected (despite doing all available updates) but its not picking up this w32 thing on my pc or my usb.

Right click removable drive and select and format the drive. Then scan and fixes all errors. So all the bad sectors are fixed and my drive has become all new and is working well now.

In the File System drop down, you will see FAT and FAT32. So which one to select?
If you right click Removable Drive >Properties

The General Properties of the USB drive reveals it is FAT, so I use FAT in the format utility. Then just select “Quick Format” and “Start” and all data will be deleted and hopefully all errors are now gone.
