brilliant. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Just to remind you my point was that it's not clever to abuse something like this as it spoils it for everyone else. Code in now invalid.0 -

As somebody on the Grabbit forum pointed out, the special offer expired 31/3/09, so it wasn't "pulled" but merely finished.
Also I'm not sure how pleased Fothergill's marketing people would be with being likened to an old lady who drops £10 in the street!0 -

Fair enough. My point is still valid. It's not on to abuse a code in this way and possibly spoil it for other who are entitled to it. I'd be very surprised if Martin Lewis thought that this type of behaviour was acceptable. Also I'm not sure how pleased Fothergill's marketing people would be with being likened to an old lady who drops £10 in the street!
There were no comparisons made between the two. However, Mr Fothergill's is a happy old chap!! And some people would actually try to rip this man off!0 -
Ooo Dear.... These Strawberries have caused a stir!!
I am one of those (Silly) people that jumped in too Quickly and ordered mine before the glitch was noticed so I paid the full £3.49 - I got mine delivered a couple of weeks ago and they are now growing nicely (even us Amateurs can grow Strawberries it seems!).
Anyway .... even though I beleive that £3.49 is a bargain for 10 plants...
In true MSE style I think that 6p is an even better bargain and I admit that I would've took full advantage of the Glitch.
I'd do anything for a Freebie... Although seeing that Picture of Poor Old Mr Fothergill would make me feel an incy wincy bit Guilty:rotfl:2009 Savings & Winnings so far....Pigsback £15.06 +[strike]£40[/strike] M&S Vouchers + £20 New Look + TNS £15 Capital Bonds + Qype Ninja Goodies + £50 Virgin VoucherSealed Pot Challenge #589 - Target £1500 -

I understand what you are saying, however, it's not really true MSE style. Martin Lewis is very careful when promoting discount codes in newsletters and often states that they have been given permission to use them. I'd be interested to see what he thinks about abusing promotional code is this manner. Martin, you there? lol
I'd be surprised if anyone who abused the code got anything. It's pretty pointless trying. £3.49, as you said, a bargain for 10 plants. If people really wanted to grow them they'd pay £3.49. I feel that most who are going for the 6p etc have never usually grow strawberries and would never normally try. Don't forget, to get anything decent from the plants you need to spend more money feeding them, potting them, netting etc and time looking after them.
Anyway, good luck with yours! If mine arrive I'm going to pull the flowers off half of them so that they're much more productive next year and eat the fruit from the other half...there is no way I can wait over a year for lots of lovely strawberries!I'd do anything for a Freebie...

I am just after getting the following email,
Dear Sir/Madam,
RE Order Code: XXXXXXXXXX
Unfortunately it has come to our attention that a recent offer available within the February edition of BBC Gardeners’ World magazine for 10 free strawberry plants has been subject to abuse by a limited number of responders when ordered via our website.
So as to ensure fair and correct processing of orders, we are asking all customers who still wish to take advantage of this offer of free plants to resubmit their order. The offer includes a charge of £3.49 to cover postage and a contribution towards handling. Please be advised that your original order has not been processed and you have not been charged. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
Please note only one order per household can be accepted and the offer will close on Saturday 4th April 2009.

Thanks to all those who not only wasted Mr Fothergill's time as I said that they would be doing but also wasting my time now that I have to re-order despite NOT abusing the code!0
