  • I had a day off work last week and got a call at home from Messer’s G White re an alleged unpaid penalty notice. I ask the chap to hold the line for a moment, gently tapped the handset against the phone so it made a clicking noise at his end, and then said “please be aware I am now recording this conversation”. Guess what…. he hung up without saying another word! It just goes to prove they tread a fine line between debt collection and extortion (allegedly!!!).

Top tactic... I suspect that is the last you will hear from them now!

I must tell my son that one - ECP have called him this morning after a couple of letters. But they should know better than to call a student at 9.30 am anyway so he just grunted and slammed the phone down :rotfl:
  • I just looked up the number that they called from 0141 248 8224 and it was from a firm called Walker Love who are (allegedly) Sheriff Officers/Messengers at Arms in Glasgow and various other Scottish locations. Anyone else had dealings with them?
  • Yes...they recently were involved in the Rangers seizing assets tax man debacle.

  • This is actually getting quite exciting now! I had a letter from Graham White (thanks for the template link... i guessed wrong :( ) Also, I had a call from a mobile number and just missed it. Thnking it was a friend calling or something, I called back and it gave me options to go through to various companies INCLUDING Roxbourgh!! How did they get my number and will I be getting call after call now. If so, can I tell them to f*** off?!

    Surely this IS harrasment!?!?

    Yep, it is.

Do not waste money calling them.. But answer next time; it's only a Roxburghe call Centre saddo, not any 'Solicitor firm'.

Talk AT them and say it is harassment and they will be reported if they attempt ANY further contact, either by letter or by phone, whether or not they are pretending to be 'GW' (Graham White, but use the initials deliberately*).

State that any alleged debt is 'expressly denied' and so they would be breaching OfT guidelines if they continue to harass you now.

*see this pepipoo thread to understand the 'GW' reference:

  • Apologies... I've not used a forum before so am not sure how it works.

I wanted to share that I've just picked up a phone message from Roxbrough UK left at 5pm today. The person knows my name and in an urgent tone - it made me think someone had died - the caller said that he must speak to me about an urgent matter.

I don't really know what Roxbrough UK is and have no debts as far as I'm aware. I did an internet search and have come across complaints about the company.

Should I just ignore the call? I don't want to begin a communication with a company unknown to to me.

I live with a pensioner who was very alarmed by the call and we both thought something dreadful must have happened to a family member or something. I'm only glad that we have the internet to check things out.

In my opinion if an old person receives a message like this and they live on their own it could easily cause sleepless nights.

    Thank you. :)
  • Ignore.

I love the way they say its urgent!!

I had to urgently go to.the toilet earlier!! Does that count?

If you are up to it talk to them and tell them not to phone if they wish to contact them write! If they then persist you can send them a letter telling them to stop and complain about them.

By the way Roxburghe are being investigated by the OFT who are minded to revoke their CCA licence, because of the way they have been carrying on their nasty business!

In my opinion if an old person receives a message like this and they live on their own it could easily cause sleepless nights.

Have you had an parking ticket [invoice] which you have ignored?

Roxburghe do chase parking charges but the bulk of their work is other types of debt collection.

Have you had any written correspondence from them? It could well be a phishing exercise for someone with your name!

If you cant think why they are ringing you its a bit of a catch 22 if you ignore them they will carry on ringing, if you speak to them they will spout all sorts of nonsense to you whether its anything to do with you or not.

Unfortunately without speaking to them you cant tell them to stop ringing. Roxburghe are an aggressive company who push they boundaries so much so the OFT are minded to revoke their CCA licence.

If your up to it speak to them, tell them that you wont discuss anything over the phone and if they wish to contact you do it in writing!
