Of course not, they would try to make it difficult for us to sell them anything we'd be beholden to the EU's bureaucracy and not have any say whatsoever in how it developed. Border control at Calais would turn into a right pain from time to time as well, mostly from spite at us upsetting the EU apple cart.
All of which would count for nothing - swept aside by their commercial interests in gaining access to such a vast market. The EU dances to the tune of the big Franco-German concerns.
That's just one reason why we should never have had anything to do with it.0 -
