Hi - I know that this is probably covered somewhere on this site but can't find it!!!

I have sent my initial letter off to Abbey to ask for the details of all the charges. They have said that they will give me the details of all the ones still on the system free of charge but will charge me £10.00 for the others. I know it's not alot but can they do this?

    Thank u

  • Hiya

I took a look at the BankActionGroup forum yesterday and they have a template letter which you can send in when requesting the list of charges:-

Data Protection Act Request -- Letter - List of charges

The letter states, near the end: 'I enclose the statutory maximum £10 fee'.

I guess this means they can request it but I think it is definitely worth paying - speculate to accumulate!

Hi I have now made an online claim for my charges to be refunded from Halifax (a closed account) and First Direct (my current account) as they did not want to refund them when I sent a letter requesting them. It has been referred to a District judge does anyone know if this is a good thing??

Can you provide more info regarding the referal?

PS. I'm sure it's not a bad thing - a judge can surely only see these charges as punitive. They are people too.

Sorry if this is a bit off topic but I've just received my BT telephone bill and have been charged a £5 late payment fee. Does anyone know if this is a 'legal' charge and if I can reclaim it?

If it's a penalty for a late payment, then you can most likely reclaim it.

Is it possible to claim for charges they made for exceeding an overdraft?

You can only claim the interest when you put in a claim at the small claims court. You could mention this in the letter before action but if they agree to refund the charges before you put in a claim you can not get interest.

    Good luck :)
