I telephoned the A&L yesterday to sort out remortgage with them - missed out on the 3.99% no fees as can only book new deal 3 months in advance ( missed out by 3 days...) No problem - no valuation as they had valuation on screen which was higher than I thought it would be ( good news for us brought our LTV to 38%) - She put me through to dept for ins quote but the girl there said we had adequate cover and they couldnt match what we were paying at the moment - no hard sell at all. Have to return Key facts within 28 days to get offer - not sure whether to hold fire for a week or o in case anyhting better comes up or just to go for it?

return key facts within 28 days are you sure ?? do you mean sign the declaration form and return that with any evidence they required ?
  • sorry for butting in but amanda40 should hold off for until the 20th or so day incase anything else better appears, then return the keyfacts this way you are not tied into a and l until you send it to them for the 28th day

Thanks Canny scot - I will hold off and keep a wee eye in case anything better does come up - delighted at that deal ( except for the booking fee - but it is just added on) as was worried by the time I could book a new deal the prices would start to go away back up! I have no documentation to return as we are already with A&L, just a straight forward swap to a new deal, so no survey or checks required.

  • Having found this thread after trying to apply online for the 3.99% (no fee) product and, like other MSE'ers, received an incorrect KFI document only to then find that the product had been pulled, delighted to report that they honoured the offer yesterday and I'm waiting for inital paperwork to arrive.

However, I'm in no rush, as I'm coming off the back of an existing deal which ends on 31 August 2009. I was relieved to read the 28 day window to return the completed application with evidence, ( as I'm banking on my formal offer arriving AFTER 1 May 2009 to remain inside the 4 month window of validity.

Anyone else in a similar position?

    Cheers

  • i just had my survey today . half hour basic stuff ...lets hope they agree with the valuation .!!!
Guys, is it correct that we have 4 months to complete from the date on the KFI (Amanda40 seems to suggest 3 months or may be I did not understand her correctly)

Phew! Just got in from work and can see it does say 28 days for the offer.
Perhaps as mine is only a remortgage (currently on another fixed rate with A&L @6.39! but breaking free as it will still save us in the long run even after the penalty fees )
But - I'll definately get my rear into gear and send it off!

I'm a new customer, the letter says 28 days and then there's a little box on the side saying 7 days. I think 'officially' it's 28 days.;)

Just spoke to hsbc on the 3.99 fixed rate. They gave me a desk top valuation over phone and said my property is worth £260.000.

I am looking for at least £280.000 to get 60% ltv. The house next door has just been reduced from 380.00 to 350.00 and I know the market has dropped etc but totally amazed at this value.

They want a £ 265.00 valuation fee up front non refundable in order to hopefully qualify so i feel that this is just a back door rip off.
