Could you possibly rent a place in your partner's name only.Thrifty Till 50 Then Spend Till the End
You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time but you can never please all of the people all of the time0 -
My hubby is in the same credit ref probs as me as we have both been in spain.I am going for a guarantor.
Its strange that all EU countries except ref from eachother but not the UK.
Maybe if i was not British i would not have this problem.0 -

Wouldn't work I'm afraid. All adults living at the house would need to go on the AST, hence why the OP is having problems with credit checks.
The guarantor seems the best solution at present, unless the OP can find a long term, reliable LL she doesn't mind coughing up 6 months rent to.
I can see it is not easy having lived abroad for so long, but LL's do get stung as well as tenants, as her own parents found out! So they have to start at some level when choosing, and a poor credit history and no previous LL references is going to make a difference, if others looking at the place do have all of this.

you have been given them - but you dont like the answers.
All the current correct information about how the private sector works in housing in the uk at the moment is here in this thread and yet you reject it all - i aint doing this, i aint doing that, i aint doing the other.
no one here is small minded, we all know the uk property market, and with respect, you dont - that is why you have come on here asking folks for help.
whether you like it or not - you are not a good bet as a tenant - whether that is fair is another matter -
You could do your best to get references from a landlord to whom you have paid rent in the past - whether in uk or spain - you could get employers references to prove what you say about your life is true - you could get 6 months worth of bank statements up together to show a private landord that you CAN and DO live within your means now - but - my guess is that you may not want to do any of these either
with respect - with this attitude i might not want you as my tenant -
a tenancy is a two way trust partnership - and you want all the trust on one side - - life aint like that
please take this in the friendly spirit in which it is offered

I understand that luckylooloo, but I would want references from here as well. You say that you have rented in this country, so can you not supply previous LL details in the UK, as it may help?!! Tenants who I am referencing at the moment, gave me LL names going back 15 years, even though I didn't ask to go back that far!
The fact of the matter is that you don't work, have a bad credit history and the only source of income is your OH who is self employed. And as much as you may say that his job is secure and will generate income, the job market as it is at the moment, means that this cannot be a sure thing in a few months time. He would need to show that his income is regular over here, not Spain.
So I think you may have to consider providing up to 6 months rent in advance, in order to get a history over here and establish yourself, so that it will become easier to rent in the future. Just check out the LL before you do so.
Best of luck, as it must be very tough to be in this position of trying to move back and start again.

I have not rejected anyone's answers if you read back you will see i have decided on a guarantor,my hubby works in the Uk and has been doing the same work for 20 years, and he can continue doing so for another 20, and clutton if all landlords are a rude as you i think i will stay in spain.0

If your OH works in the UK now where is he living, as this may help, along with bank statements? The difficulty here is that you are only providing small snippets of info every time you post, and your original gave very little away and didn't mention your OH was already working here.
The problem may well be your financial history then.

Yes but has the guarantor decided on YOU - unless they have a large enough salary to cover your and their commitments then they are not a viable option.0
