Thanks, despite others jumping to their uniformed conclusions - the issue I had was 2 fold, firstly the oil on the road going into the drain/grid and secondly whether this intensity of work is allowed on a normal driveway because of safety issues.......but I'm obviously lying and have ulterior motives........even thought they know nothing of the situation or anything about me........but why let any logic, common sense and a fair hearing prevail? That, of course, would be too easy.

I'm not wasting anymore of my time with reactionary, ill informed posters. :D

what safety issues? the guy has them as you said on mini stilts. im assuming you mean axle stands, this is the safest way to keep a car off the ground with no wheels.
if you keep out of his property then your safety should not be an issue, only his, so you should mind your own buisness and let the guy get on with his summer project.
so how much oil went down the drain? was it gallons and gallons or was it just the rain washing the rainbow coloured trace of oil away?

im sure there could be worse going on next door.

Now i'm going to summise here that you know nothing about cars.

They are not mini-stilts they're called axle stands and they are what pretty much every home mechanic uses when working on cars. I can't see what safety issues there are when using them as they are designed to take the weight of the vehicle safely.

I cannot see how you think that stripping a car back to the shell is unsafe - all he is doing is removing the interior and mechanical parts. These tasks are regularly done by home mechanics and are an excellent way of saving money.

Small amounts of oil are no issue. Most cars will lose oil to the ground through normal use. It is, however, illegal to pour oil down a drain. If he had stripped a car in such a manner on the public highway then I believe that would be illegal. I second the mind your own business stance. He will no doubt give the shell a good clean out if it's to be used and more oil will head for the drain in the water flowing to it.

I also offer an exchange of neighbours :)

and boy you have one narrowminded chip on your shoulder.

    See ya!

not a chip on my shoulder , its just ive had run ins with busy body interfering old bags before(not suggesting you are an old bag of corse)

go speak to them face to face instead on hiding behind your computer screen

who cares if its a saftey issue , if the guy hurts himself its still none of you buisness , do you post on internet forums about saftey when you see a guy up a laddder or using a saw ??

the forum is about money saving , the guy is probably trying to save a few quid on car repairs by breaking his back and doing it himself ...good luck to him

Firstly do you really even need to ask about if "this intensity of work is allowed on a normal driveway". What and who is going to stop someone doing whatever the hell they like on their drive just like they can do whatever the hell they like on their homes....it's called DIY.

Secondly the ill informed posters with smile face I find quite frankly patronising. Considering your the one that came on here and asked (what I'm sure now you realise) about a concern that you do not really have but as you or probably anyone in your family wouldn't dare get their hands dirty on something, you find a someone repairing their own car rupulsive.

It's pronounced bouquet you know, not bucket!
