  • I dont object to views and opinions but what I DO object to is someone accusing me of malnourishing my children, spending more on fags than I do on food and being a dole scrounger. And all that took place when I wasn't on the net to defend myself!!

I've re-read the thread from start to finish and can't see any post by anyone accusing you of any of these things. People have expressed opininions, but not about you personally. Sorry you feel upset about this, people have queried things but as far as I can see nobody has accused you of anything.

I've just come back to this post to say a BIG thank you to black saturn, I've made cobbler with sweetner and fish pie (never even thought of doing that in the slow cooker - I assumed it was for stews!) and they have been fab and I look forward to trying more. Please don't be put you off. I also think your recipes are fresh and inspirational and it really has helped me look on the stuff in my cupboards with fresh eyes, and you've saved me a hell of a lot already!

My sis-in-law also has problems digesting fruit and veg so eats very little of them, but she is in fab health as are her family who have similar problems, such as her 96 year old great gran.

I really hope we get to see some more of your recipes.

    Big hugs

    Lally

I haven't read all the thread but am trying to cut down the amount of money I waste at the supermarket. I read someone say how much would black-saturns shop cost, so i've calculated for tesco. Her list is actually not that different from what I buy anyway, I don't buy the value stuff and if i added some brocolli, apples, more eggs etc it would match. My tesco bill is over £100 a week for 2 bigs and 2 littleuns. Someone mentions £16 I don't know where that came from.

I would never ever get supermarkets value meat. That Tesco mince 4 for £4 odd??? Thats cheap. I wouldn't buy cheap meat because it's more or less the left over animal waste which is what farmers would give to the pigs..yikes!!

Her recipes sound tasty, but i'd prefer to use proper meat from the butchers :)

i just chose the cheapest, we buy all our meat from the butchers, once a month, and freeze, much cheaper than the supermarket, i'd have to ask oh, what we spend.

Scrap that mince, it's frozen and 750g (would prob last 2 weeks though)

    could substitute
    Beef mince 500g is £1.20 so 4 * £1.20 = £4.80
    Value beef mince 500g is 97p * 4 = £3.88
