EON - Elec.V5 to V13

I would like to see a company come out and provide a totally tranparent energy plan with no hidden agenda, something similar to Tesco with mobile phones, 5p/min and that is all you need to know. It would be a breath of fresh air to use consumers.
There is one company - Ebico - that does just that. One price, no discounts for anything.
Unless you are a highish user of gas they are pretty competitive - not really competitive for electricity unless you use very little.0 -
This has happened with all the recent postings about price reductions, changes in discount, showing regional discounts on our website and other related issues.
Responses will be posted when we have them.
malc,
Thanks for your post.
As the spokesman for E-ON you have been put in the invidious position of attracting the(justified) criticism of people who understand the financial impact of tariff changes and are not fooled by disingenuous headline announcements.
As pointed out, it doesn't help when you claim credit e.g. "Better news is the unit prices for electricity on version 13 of our online products are lower than version 5.) but are unable to comment on misleading announcements by the company.

I just want an energy supplier who are transparent in their charges, when they talk about a 9% price cut, dont use a mythical 'average' family from a select region, on a select tarrif. It has to be a 9% cut for everyone!!
This has blown up right in Eon's face.
You are 100% spot on....................
......or as Eon would actually mean - 9% spot on !0 -
Just a quick update everyone.
Following feedback about displaying discounts on our website, improvements have been made for existing customers with online accounts.
By logging into your online account you can now see the additional discounts for the online products. These are now shown as a percentage figure rather than a financial figure.
They are available by opening the Switch Now page and are listed under the relevant products as Online Discount.
Work is continuing on the Quote and Switch facility on the main website and I will let you know more about this when I have the details.
Hope this helps all those who posted about it.

Hello again everybody.
Following on from last week's debate concerning the end of version 5 of the Energy Online Extra Saver tariff.
The EnergyOnline ExtraSaver product guarantees to maintain your discounts for a fixed period of time. With version 5 this was until 31 March 2009.
At the end of this period you will by the nature of the product be moved on to an alternative. This is explained when you sign up.
As with any retail market, prices and products are always changing, and we cannot guarantee that the product at the end of this period will be as competitive as the previous one.
This is why we encourage customers to consider what the best deal is for them at this time.
Hope this addresses some of the points raised.

You mean 9% (minus hidden discount fiddle)....0 -
Hi all,
My experience of Eon is chapter after chapter of incompetence, inaccuracy, corporate bullying.
I deal with a lot of companies in my day-to day business and personal , as most of us do.
This is a company that appears to me to be unable to get the simplest of tasks correct ie a consumers right to an accurate and ontime energy bill.
When questioned, they seem to deny all knowledge of anything that might mean them making an effort to fulfill their duty e.g. you had someone read my meter 2 weeks ago so why are you sending me a wildly inaccurate estimated bill.
The threatening letters and automated calls start to come thick and fast - people are going to come around to the house, court action will ensue and charges have already been added to your account.
The kind of tactics you'd expect from some cheap local loan shark thugs.
All I have asked for is an accurate bill.
I can't get any sense or resolve out of the ignorant people I have dealt with in customer services and complaints dept.
Maybe, I should try contacting Paul Golby, Eon's Chief Executive.
In addition, Watchdog and Energywatch may be able to bring this, what seem to me to be an, 'out of control' company to heel.
best

My contract for Electricity Online Extra Saver version 5 states "20% discount until at least 1 July 2009" yet I have been sent a letter saving this is due to end on 1 April 2009. On contacting EON they were aware of this issue and I was offered £8.50 which is apparently the average discount. I estimate mine to be at least double this and they have agreed to apply the full discount in July. I wonder if EON will do this for all affected customers or only those who query it.0 -

I would complain to Ofgem, you entered into a fix term contract with Eon which they are they are ending early. There may be thousands who have no idea that Eon are pulling a fast one and are entitled to compensation. So for yourself and the good of your fellow energy user please ring/write to Ofgem with a detailed allegation against Eon.0 -

Sorry for the delay replying to this question. I was not aware of this myself and have been investigating what happened.
I have discovered we had a dodgy batch of letters go out at the beginning of April 2008. These contained a printing error which gave the incorrect end date for the Electricity Online (version 5) tariff as 1 July 2009.
This letter advised completion of the change of supplier process and confirmed the opening meter readings.
The correct end date for this tariff is 1 April 2009. This was advised to all affected customers in their initial welcome letter which included our terms and conditions.
Fortunately, this error was spotted quickly and very few customers have been affected.
We have taken appropriate action for all customers who have advised us they have received the incorrect letter.
Again, sorry for the delay replying but hope this clarifies what happened.
