By the way, I can't move to v13 because I've just moved to 12, and you're only allowed to switch within eon once every 3 months.

    Hi ScarletBea

There are no 3 monthly restrictions stopping you changing tariff. You can move to version 13 if you wish. :j

If you are having difficulties doing this please give us a call. Will be happy to help. :)

I am on the stadnard Eon electricity plan, am in south Wales (SWALEC), and pay on receipt of bill (i am not going to DD!). Is there any advantage to moving to v13, as according to the website the prices are exactly the same?!

Sorry Supreme but payment by Direct Debit is necessary to be eligible for our online products.

For your info, discount for the Electricity Online (version 13) tariff in your area is 7.3 per cent.

For the dual fuel Energy Online product the discount is 11.3 per cent.

In fact the unit prices are exactly the same. When I changed to V13 I double checked it. I believe my discount used to be c20%.

Just checked the tariffs for your area pardal51 and the unit prices for version 13 of our Electricity Online tariff are definitely cheaper than both versions 5 and 12. :)

You are right about the discount on version 5. This was 20 per cent.

Sorry moonrakerz but most of the issues you raise are beyond my remit. To save boring all concerned with the same response may I refer to a previous thread as per the link below?

I am afraid that saying things like, "it is too difficult to include (rapidly vanishing !) regional discounts on our website" just doesn't hold water ! the comparison sites seem to manage it on the actual unit pricing of energy.

Happily, improvements are being made to our website to show the discount as a percentage figure. Our technical bods are currently working on this. :)

This is a direct result of customer feedback a lot of which has come from this forum. :T

most of the issues you raise are beyond my remit.

With all due respect to yourself and the Eon P.R drive on these forums, if you cannot answer valid points raised here, can I suggest you get someone who can? It all well and good having a presence answering the easy questions, less so when things get a little sticky.
  • To be fair, it's not the E.on reps' fault. This happens at most organisations - the generally lowest paid taking all the flak at the coal face whilst the higher paid sit in their ivory towers looking at spreadsheets and Tiffany catalogues (that bit may just be made up, btw). I agree with jimexbox, get the people who are essentially paid enough to justify the unjustifiable to register and earn their wage for a change. E.on really can't have it both ways - they have a (paid) presence on here to attempt to put the company in a good light, so awkward questions from their customers really DO deserve answering properly.

Sorry moonrakerz but most of the issues you raise are beyond my remit.

That simply is not good enough.

E.ON sanctions your presence on this Board. If the points raised are 'above your pay grade' then get one of your bosses to draft a reply for you to post.

The Eon reps could be anyone, a 15yrs old work experience kid from 'chav' central, or a senior operations manager. 'Beyond my remit' is a facile argument, if I have an issue beyond my remit at work, I lift up the phone and pass the buck. Let some person who has licked their way up the food chain make a decision for once.

Come on Malc, lift up the phone, the silence is deafening.

    Please see post number 25.

    Which says:-
"I think you may know by now that my colleagues and I are not in a position to make justifications or criticisms about E.ON’s commercial business decisions. Whether this is the way the prices work or the way the website works."

No one is asking you to justify your employer's commercial decisions - we are "only" asking that these decisions, ie: prices, can be understood by potential customers. Is that too much to expect ?

I don't particularly want to criticise you personally, but I am afraid one line in your previous responses illustrates my point perfectly .
Better news is the unit prices for electricity on version 13 of our online products are lower than version 5. :)

While this statement in isolation is perfectly correct it gives a grossly misleading picture of Eon's actual price movements. Your use of a "smiley", I am afraid, made me more than a little irritated.
I will repeat myself:- Eon's much heralded 9% reduction turns out to actually be worth 1.8%, your gas prices have risen -unannounced; and your discounts almost halved - this merits the use of a "smiley" ????????????????? NOT in my book !
This is an absolutely perfect example of "confusion pricing": it is deliberate, underhand and indefensible.

I really must confess to finding your presence on this site become more and more annoying. You are trying to defend the indefensible !
I don't know your position in the company, you may be a lowly clerk who was "volunteered" to do this or you may be a middle manager - I regret to say that I find most of your answers are either to fairly basic questions which should be answered on your website or they are side-stepped. The end result appears to be a company inspired attempt to keep the wool well and truly pulled over the consumer's eyes.

I am not alone in this point ot view:-

"'Beyond my remit' is a facile argument"
"That simply is not good enough"
"E.on really can't have it both ways"

Pass these comments onto your management !

The "little old lady", the "single parent" et al may not have the time nor the inclination to fathom out your "confusion pricing" sleight of hand, but the fact that these are the people who are falling for this trickery should make companies like Eon hang their heads in shame. But I fear there is no such thing as "shame" in big business nowadays.
