No, not a wind up.

Has successfully treated leg ulcers which are notoriously difficult to heal.
thanks for link.
i am sure my manuka isn't the special one, which will cost a bomb, but worth every penny by the sound of it.0 -
Sainsburys have Active 10+ UMF Manuka for £5.99 for 340gm - their own 'taste the difference' brand.
10+ Active is strong enough for just about anything. Even 5+ has pretty strong antibiotic action BUT the price of the Sainsbury 10+ is far less than most others 5+.
It's not really worth buying the stronger ones for most uses - depends on what you use it for obviously BUT from reading up over many years in most cases 10+ is greatly sufficient PLUS as it's far more affordable you'd be more inclined to use it more often.0 -

They are using in Christie hospital, Manchester for throat cancer patients.
I cured myself of REALLY bad Acid Indigestion - was on Omeprazole which hardly touched it - just 2-3 months of 1 tsp of Manuka on toast 3 times a day & haven't had ANY problem since. Wonder treatment!
I swear by manuka & am never without a jar in the house.
iiiinteresting! will be researching this as I've started getting nasty acid indigestion myself.0 -
It kills off the H Pylori - the cause of most acid indigestion.
It's NOT an immediate cure as it takes time to kill off all the bacteria. You MUST take regularly for 2-3 months.
IF you do take regularly then it will be killed off.
The Omeprazole I was taking was OK during the day IF I was very careful what I ate BUT was still keeping me awake when acid came up into my mouth at night. The consultant told me to put my bed up on bricks at the top to help me sleep through the night.
I researched & found Manuka. Having taken bee propalis for 10yrs or so instead of antibiotics + being an ardant fan of Tea tree oil - never travel anywhere without these 2! Manuka combines a lot of the benefits of both of these.
I stopped taking the Omeprazole after 3 days or so on Manuka BUT took 1 again after a week when I got too acidic. I really wished I hadn't as it seemed to bring on more acidity. I never took another one after that. IF I felt acidic I just took extra Manuka. That was over 2 years ago & I had been on Omeprazole for over a year. The Omeprazole kept the symptoms under control (but NOT too well as I still woke up with acid in my mouth). The Manuka actually CURED me! I no longer have the problem. I do keep Manuka in the house & maybe occassionally I will have a teaspoon or 2 IF I feel at all acidic. My last jar lasted me over 6 months!
It's NOT a quick cure as you MUST take 3 times a day for at least a month (many reports say 3 months) BUT it's a cure NOT a masking device. I slowly reduced the amount I took until I weaned off it altogether after 3-4months BUT you must listen to your own body before weaning off early.
Manuka also helps people with low immunity. A great present for someone who is a bit poorly, in hospital etc. As is 'normal' honey BUT Active Manuka honey has more antibiotic properties than normal honey.
There are numerous research papers out there BUT sometimes it's hard to find them amidst all the advertising. I briefly looked for them BUT since I initially found manuka - over 2-3 years ago the advertising of the benefits seems to have taken over a hundred fold.0 -
I'd got a bit worried after seeing jnrm24's post about the expiry date, as I'd already ordered. But my tube arrived in post today, and actually has a use by date of Aug 2011 on it.
It is 'sterilised UMF18+' - so the proper one for using on wounds etc.
Some interesting other comments by the rest of you too, I may look into it for internally taking next time.0 -
I got some this honey from Sainsburys today and its very nice indeedy xxSIMPLES!0
