We ate in Prezzo in Kensington using the Telegraph 2-4-1 voucher and we all had very nice meals - preferred them to Bella Italia. Unfortunately we do not have a Prezzo close to home.

Don't all restaurants make those kind of charges for drinks?

As for the service charge, it is optional. You can deduct it.
I work for one of these chains and the drinks prices are the same across the board. The trouble is with the introduction of the vouchers it has brought in a different type of customer that is not used to paying those sort of prices for drinks.Dont get me wrong im not being a snob as i cant afford to take my family to these middle price restaurants. We usually go to a weatherspoon if we take the kids out.And as for the service charge ,well most of it goes straight to the waiter/waitress.But imagine having a party of 25 in your section taking up all your tables for the night and them leaving you nothing.,Means we have worked unsociable hours for minimum wage

Fair point. Most waiting staff depend on their tips for a decent wage, and unless the service was awful ought to get a 10% tip (maybe more).

The problem with vouchers is that if the cost of the meal is reduced by half, so is the tip. Fairer to add 10% (or whatever) to the full price, rather than the reduced price.

The service is the worse I have seen. It took them an hour from ordering to bring our meals. It took almost 2 hours for the whole process having to chase the food and even having to get up and go pay at counter as they took more than 15 min after being asked for the bill and yet still no bill.
