Ate at Southampton Pizza Express last week as part of our hols. Lovely restaurant, with atmosphere, great service and really yummy food. I had a pizza with anchovies and capers- soooo tasty.Children's portions were a bit on the small side, as 7 year old commented!!!, but we thoroughly enjoyed our meal, even better as it was paid for by clubcard deal too!! Will definately be cashing more in for those in my area.
Just a thought my friend's daughter has a sesame allergy and she struggles to eat out- pizza hut can't guarentee sesame free. Any ideas about pizza express, as no mention of sesame on their site.

We are going to pizza express with tesco vouchers tonight (friday), I can't find any restrictions on days/times so assume these tesco vouchers are good anytime (for food only), can anyone confirm to save embarassment when bill arrives :-)
    Thanks.
  • Have been to the new pizza express at gateshead metro centre, the service and food was fantastic, far superior to the other offerings there

Thought I would try out the 2 for 1 pizza on saturday lunchtime. three children and two adults - one of the children had a kids meal at £5.95 and we all had a soft drink. the Bill came to £55 - FOR PIZZA!!! after deducting the 2 for 1 voucher it was still in excess of £40.

Personally I won't be going there again, four bits of chicken and a smidgen of cheese on my pizza - i was incredibly disappointed and to be honest rather shocked at the price.

I think if I worked out the production costs compared to the retail cost, I would be tempted to set up my own pizza parlour.

Hubby calls it a bit of dough, cheese and tomato - bit like a sandwich.

Moneysaving - even with two for one, that's stretching it rather.

I will definitely be giving it a wide berth in future!

    Sorry to be a grump!

I think you are being a bit of a grump - how much do you expect to pay for a restaurant meal? I presume you saw the price of the Pizzas before you ordered - they average around £8 so add £2 for a soft drink (nowhere much except Macdonalds charges any less and many charge a good deal more) and that's £10 a head plus the Kid's meal, making around £55. Two of the 2 for 1 vouchers should have brought it down to about £39, so it sounds like you only used one.

For a family I do think the cost is on the high side, which is why we tend to use vouchers earned from survey sites, clubcard vouchers or money off coupons. Its still worth it compared to Pizza Hut, for example!

I thought the 2 4 1 pizza express deal was only Sunday to Friday??

Thats what is says in the terms and conditions so I think you were lucky to get any money off on a Saturday lunchtime!!!

Soft drinks are what puts the bill up. If you don't want to spent alot order a jug of water and glasses. We do that if we aren't drinking wine but don't want to pay for carbonated rubbish.

Good point, but it might have been a different voucher, e.g. the 2 for 1 vouchers I've got off bottles of Pizza Express dressing are valid any day of the week up to 31/03/10.

  • Pizza Express by Tate Modern on the South Bank was very good. Excellent service though a bit slow and excellent pizzas.
    Will use 2-4-1 asap.
