Envirofone have asked us to let people know that phones should ideally be sent recorded signed for post. This will insure items up to £32 should they get lost. If your phone has a much higher value you may want to consider special delivery as unfortunately envirofone can't cover the costs of lost phones.

Just by way of a heads-up, I sent two phones (value £6.odd) to envirofone in June - the status of these phones is still 'waiting', which essentially means I've lost the phones. The low value of the phones meant queuing at the post office for recorded delivery wasn't an attractive option, so I simply used the freepost bag supplied by envirofone. Again, the low value means chasing them up in my own time and expense with Royal Mail isn't an attractive option.
Not a great experience; I won't be using envirofone again and can't honestly recommend them either.

I never had a problem with them and i sent them loads. They did take a while though if phone was broken and they would then be sent back to me so hopefully this has just happened to you.

Looks like #278 had the same problem. Which suggests to me it's quite common - I'm sure only a minute % of envirofone users use this forum.
  • I'm the 'Phone' guy at my place of work and look after all of the upgrades etc and recycle the old ones, I normally save up 5/10 (I get roughly 1 every 2 days) so far Envirofone have paid out just over £1500 to me in the form of Argos credit from which I now have a 40" Toshiba 1080p LCD, a PS3 with 7 games, a monster tool kit with a sander, drill and such like and lot's of other goodies to go around the house.

I've never had one problem with them, they've always paid out on time and I couldn't fault them.

At the start of the month I traded 3 x Nokia N73's + 6233 and 6230i with 'Mobile2cash.co.uk' (they offered a far better price) and still haven't been paid out even though it states 22 days payment turnaround on their site, I called them today to be told that the payroll woman is on holiday - !!!!!!? surely someone else can do it? it's over £200!

Mopay.co.uk is a good one too, last week (after 14 days) I got £125 worth of M&S vouchers, yay! posh food here we come.

I just tend to have the 3 sites open and see who offers the most for each phone and then have 3 sales going on at the same time, BUT although Envirofone may not give you the best price they will certainly pay you out the fastest.

This has happened to me and it is clearly part of "the scam".

I have reported the IMEI numbers of both handsets as stolen because as far as I am concerned, this is what has happened to them. I have never had anything go "missing" in the post, ever.

    Hello folks,

I've read through this very helpful thread but still have a little query.

If I was to send my phone to Envirofone, Mazuma or Fonebank and disagreed with their proposed price, would they send it back and if so how much would they charge me to do so?

I have an N95 8GB in functioning order (turns on and off etc) but the sound is very faint and just a pain.

Best price seems to be Mazuma or Fonebank, but Fonebank state in their t&cs that they won't return the phone.

    Advice would be greatly appreciated!

  • Cool. I've got a nokia 6500 slide i'm thinking of upgrading from so will look at what I can get for it.
  • On the whole envirofone issue .... I recently used the service and have no complaints , they were simple , efficient and the cheque was sent to me within days . I have used other mobile recycle companys and they werent no where near as simple or efficient as envirofone . I will certainly be sending my old phones in to them in the future !!!

I would not recommend sell your mobile, I had so much trouble with them, awful company to deal with..
Envirofone excellent as someone said and also Mazuma my sister uses very good both offer quidco too :)
Always read the small print tho, because some companys want the charger too ??
