  • Bank account is completely independent of other debt.

Perhaps the SBT is the best course of action for now. I have until mid February to take the offer.

  • This might sound bizarre GG, but I do envy you.....MrLurks & I had hoped to have a gosling of our own but it seems that it isnt going to happen.

Strangely enough, when I saw your first 2012 post I did wonder if there was more hatchling news!!

Anyway. Back to pennies. Like you say the overdraft is a problem. Charges are the devil. IF you do the SBT, you need to be sure that you dont go overdrawn again. which is easier said than done. you can ask your bank to withdraw the facility. or you can make a move to a basic bank account that I beleive will allow DDs & internet payments & cash card, but no O/D facility. then the money that goes in is what you have to pay your bits & bobs.

Give some serious thought to DMP, write down all your questions - the answers will be on this website somewhere - after all Martin is Yoda where money is concerned!!!

if you still arent keen, then ask the credit cards companies directly for reductions in payments/interest - there are letter templates on here, as Mr T says, every little helps - he's probably talking about his profit, but it equally applies to your debt

Hugs my Goosey friend, take it easy out there its icy......although having seen Geese on Ice it might be worth recording for You've Been Framed......:D
I do not make mistakes, I learn lessons.

I love to live & live to love.
    Good enough is exactly that.
  • Hi all I've just been reading rather than posting. Keep strong and happy financial busting as long as its going down and not up its a winner :-) hope goosling is doing ok :-) I'm sure by the middle of the year you will be back on good ground keep positive xx

Having had a chance to ponder on the SBT offer, I have decided that the CC with the 24.95% APR will definitelty be paid off using the SBT as it's a low amount and the APR on the Halifax will be at 20.95% which is a cheaper APR than I am currently on.

Have gone through my outgoings and I'm £168.41 short every month. That is also not allowing for things like birthdays, haircuts and all the other kind of things. So no matter how many lunches I take to work or how many social invitations I decline I'm still short each month. MrGG may be able to assist with the shortfall. I wonder if its still worth doing the SBT on the OD as the fees I've already racked up this month are going to cripple me and put me back even further.

I am also going to look for someone who may be interested in helping look after the gee gee and contributing to it's keep, even if it's only shoes then it's something. There are a number of free places to advertise so will make the use of those or I may even see about finding a loan home.

Today I am mostly shopping for car insurance. I will also be taking 6mths car tax out at the end of the month as tax, insurance and MOT all due end Jan/beg Feb is a financial killer.

MrGG annoyed me yesterday as he was nipping to the supermarcado to get some essentials and I asked for baby wipes and he got one pack! One pack lasts no time at all, yet he bought me two packs of Haribo as they were on special offer at 50p each. Now one bag would have been fine to be honest, in fact I would have preferred no sweets and another pack of wipes!

Looked online for ideas about working from home and its pretty limiting really. I sound like such a defeatist it's untrue. The barriers that stand in the way of working over and beyond my current role are not moveable and the fact that I am also in the process of cooking another goose egg won't go in my favour at all.

Lurkio - how's it going? You are sweet. I'm sorry to hear that you will not be having any mini's. Is it financial or medical? *noseybag* Feel free to ignore! Happily lend you the Gosling for awhile particularly on bad nappy days.

How do Happy? The fact that I am paying something is keeping me going. I need to tackle what other opportunities are out there that I am missing.

    Til the next installment.............

  • Hi, what does a loan home mean or someone who wants to contribute to the cost of goosling? I've been better, finances improving slowly but recent health issues will mean that any idea of holiday is on hold so I guess on one side I pay more to finances.... It's only January and it's always the toughest month sometimes there never seems to be much slack. 168 is a big negative I don't know what to suggest to improve the shortfall, life can't revolve around finances but finances contribute to life we need to find the happy medium. Anymore things you can sell on eBay? Keep positive xx

  • MrGG has said he can help me out with the shortfall.

Happy - the Gosling isn't going out on loan! I'm talking about one of my animals. Sorry to hear you are not well. Is it a one off thing or something that is ongoing? January always cripples us too. On the plus side my car insurance doesn't expire until 1st March. Need to find out when the MOT is due. Have a feeling that is soon.

Going to try and catch up with some other diaries as I'm a long time out of touch with most of you.

I have so much laundry to do its criminal.

    Debt-free and Proud!
Hi, just catching up. Is there any surplus Mr GG has that you could use. It seem crazy to be paying those kinds of rates when the father of your goslings has cash..or am I missing something here?

I'd also phone and ask for reductions, interest freeze, whatever. They may accept as you continuing to pay and not doing a small amount via a DMP or as FF was saying bankruptcy when they will get nothing. It also shows someone facing up to the situation which often carries some weight. Think it was Kerri_dfw that phoned and immediately got a big reduction on one of her loans...just for asking. OK it no doubt knackers your credit rating but as you're trying to crawl out of that seems better of the two evils to be honest...

Here about to toast you...maybe with your great news you aren't drinking?.... And the latest gosling and to your debt free future. You can do it hun really you can

Why is it that men can never be tidy? MrGG never puts things in the DW instead shoves them in the sink expecting magic to transport the items to the DW. *bangs head*

I'm sat here watching The Hungry Sailors on ITV but the father's moustache makes him look like a walrus. It's huge!

Last night I was surfing The Resourceful Cook and tomorrow night I shall be making curried root vegetables. Heaven help us all!! Lets hope its palatable.

Its a chum's birthday soon and it look's like we'll be using a voucher we got given for Christmas to buy her something. I'd rather sacrifice that than add to the CC debt.

Brizzle MrGG says he can help me out so we will see. I've been suggesting we go through all his outgoings and he says yeah yeah and we never seem to get further than that.

I was looking for the car's MOT cert earlier, found it! Got til 8th Feb to put it through and I discovered two gift vouchers. One is for £50 but I know its quite a few year's old. I wonder if it's worth contacting the retailer to ask if its still valid. It doesn't have any expiry date on it, so you never know?

Small spend today - £1 on car parking and almost £4 on some dog food. So only necessary spends and all quite low. I do need some petrol but I wonder if I can get away with filling up tomorrow instead.

Desperately need some toyboxes/storage solutions for the lounge and the Gosling's bedroom. I am on Freecycle but nothing suitable is coming up. Can't afford to spend anything so looks like we'll have to be resourceful.

Hope you are all having great NSDs. Nearly the weekend. Hang in there debt busters.

    Til the next installment......

When I am not racing round after the Gosling and battling to stay on top of the household chores I seem to be spending my free time watching cookery programmes. I think I am addicted!! The trouble is that I am not that great at following recipes despite my enthusuiasm.

We did have the curried root vegetables and it was ok. I overdid it on the chilli and it needed a bit longer on the hob as some of the parsnips were not as cooked through as the others and not as pleasant to munch on. However, in terms of a healthy filling meal, it certainly worked. MrGG said it was was nice but not sure if he was being polite. Guess I'll find out when I offer to cook it again!

The Gosling is poorly. Hoping its teeth. He's all sleepy and hot and so he's gone to bed early. Look's like we could be back to the doctors this week then if he's not improved tomorrow! I spend more time at the doctors than anywhere else these days.

Money wise its been a succession of NSDs so very happy with that. I have also been very good at linking up journeys so as not to waste petrol. MrGG and I went into town on the weekend and we parked at one of the supermarkets so had the luxury of free parking as we only had one shop to go and then needed milk from the supermarket.

We have a few bills coming up and MrGG is doing as much overtime as he possibly can, lucky that there is the option for him to do this as not long ago there was a complete ban on it.

I heard that someone won something like £50million on the EuroMillions and instantly my mind wandered off to thinking what a win like that would mean. It would be amazing but also I'd feel a bit of a cheat at wiping my debt off in that way. By having a tough time repaying the debt it's teaching us a very valuable lesson.

I am finally getting through to MrGG and driving him mad with "are you planning on spending the evening on the landing? No? Then why is the light still on". He's starting to turn lights off when he leaves a room. *happy dance*

So no huge DFW revelations or debt busting moves that are going to transform our world, instead its all slowly slowly catchy monkey. Tortoise and the hare story springs to my mind.

Til the next installment, be good, be careful and be thrifty..................
