I switched energy suppliers about three months ago, it all went through painlessly. I'm saving about £200 a year. I'm also now on a fixed rate for the next two winters so the hikes in prices won't affect me. And to make things better I went through a cashback site!

There I was thinking I'm not in any further debt. Well it seems that even without actually spending on my CC's that my debt has got worse. Somehow my total CC debt is now £17,550.90. How? I think its cos I put my car insurance on one. Foolish foolish foolish goose. I haven't even included my overdraft.

Right so I think I am just going to switch to nPower and see what happens. It's nearly a £200 saving so we would be foolish not to switch. Will check out Quidco and everything else.

I am trying not to be depressed.

I have written out my list of CC's, APRs, payments, balances etc. Guess that is a start.

Anybody ever wish they could turn back their financial clock and start again? I would have done things so very differently. I can't see that I am ever going to have disposable income as I disposed of that as soon as I got my first credit card many many moons ago. Oh well, can't change the past better to concentrate on my financial future.

I must be able to get a little business going somehow doing something. Not to make millions, though I would like to, but just enough to make significant inroads to my credit cards. *dons thinking cap*

Christmas presents are already taken care of as I have been gifted £100. I also have lots of cards leftover from previous years so will use those. I've also got a present that I've never used so can recycle.

Most of the children's activities I go to are at a local children's centre so are free which is good and only a short drive away. Can't walk there as the roads are country lanes with no path and I don't fancy taking my chances.

Hope you are all being über frugal and kicking that debt to the kerb and not giving those credit card companies a single penny more than you have to.

    Til the next installment.......

  • But two new additions and a lifetime of memories to build that no cc could buy. The debt will go down in its own time. I have had to learn to be resaliic with my spreadsheet dertermination, i have accepted that i cant dedicate every penny to negative wealth i have to find a balance that keeps the wheel turning, otherwise the journey can become a negative one. We all know NOW that spending like we have was not overly sensible but i have some good memories and this is part of lifes lesson. Dont berate yourself for been human, look at the positives. You get through each month, you have a roof over your head, you have two children who dote on you and your time, ok so its not going to be gone yesterday but at some point it will be gone and in that time you will have mastered the idea of creating an adventure out of some cardboard boxes and you will probably learn just how strong you really are as a family. You always come across as upbeat and thats great :)........
"You don't set out to build a wall. You don't say 'I'm going to build the biggest, baddest, greatest wall that's ever been built.' You don't start there. You say, 'I'm going to lay this brick as perfectly as a brick can be laid. You do that every single day. And soon you have a wall." will smith...
Start your day knowing that is someway you have made a difference to your life and negative wealth it might not be paying anything off it may just be buying something cheaper than the week before :) but alas you are making a difference it might not seem like a wall at first but day by day like will smith says that cheaper thing saves you enough money to clear something off. we dont have to know the HOW we just have to know that inevitably everything will be paid someway someday and somehow :)

pps sorry for the mass post it has perked me up so i hope it does you x

  • Couldnt agree more, Happytogetfree!! you perked me up too - thank you!

First post of your diary - over 24K debt. Now under £18k - thats not undone at all, its going the right way

you have a list of debts, you have BT to 0% offers. add those together & you have a plan.

& you have 2 gorgeous incentives to succeed in your plan.

Add that to your MSE supporters & you cant go wrong!
