Cake without eggs?

Eggs act as the binder, so replace with something that does similar. My friend with egg allergy, uses mashed banana, or mashed tofu, and to no detriment to the final product.
Any vegan cakemakers out there who can expand on this0 -

Soya flour will also act as a binder. A cheaper alternative is chickpea flour (also known as besan in indian grocery shops). Both also appear to act a bit as raising agents. Eggless cakes tend to be crumbly. The soya/chickpea flour helps reduce this.0

any recipies for an eggless chocolate cake that doesnt involve vinegar? think my bloke would be a bit funny if he found out vinegar in there, not keen on raisins or golden syrup either
couple of years ago i made one with coke?!?!! dont ask! only one i could find but it dried out pretty quicklyYes Your Dukeiness0 -
See post number 3;) When you do use vinegar in a cake it is a really small amount and you cannot taste it !. Don't tell him it's in there, why does he need to know the exact ingredients ? The golden syrup in my recipe isn't apparent either honestly. The cake tastes like chocolate cake trust me !:D0

completely true. been vegan for a whole, and I just put 1TBSP soya flour for every egg that there should have been as well as a few drops of vinegar.
P.S. thi is one of my fave choc cake recipes, but I throw a bit of vinegar in to make it airier.
P.P.S damn you people, I want to make one now!Monthly Food Budget: out of the window0 -

I can highly recommend the chocolate cake (post #3). If I hadn't known that it contained vinegar, I wouldn't have known - if you see what I mean. Just don't tell the boyfriend that it contains vinegar. What he doesn't know won't hurt him.....0

You can use mayonaise instead of eggs if you've got that. Here dead we lie because we did not choose
To live and shame the land from which we sprung.
Life, to be sure, is nothing much to lose,
But young men think it is,
And we were young.

If that's the case, I'm sure you could use a vegan mayo like Plamil. I might try that for my dd (not the one with garlic though !)0
