When taking advantage of things like this I'll spread the cost. Normally I don't try to stick rigidly to a budget but to "stay somewhere close". If I'm over one week (or month) I'll do my best to tighten my belt and be under for the next one - but then, I always treat my budget as a guide and not a wotsit-thingy-that's-a-right-pain! :)

Well, so far so good with my first grocery challenge! :D Including all groceries, health shop stuff and household stuff.

Didn't go food shopping in the end and chose to have a Tesco delivery instead. This has to be the cheapest delivery we've ever had :D It came to around £95 but after using vouchers, discount codes etc, it came down to £64.73 :j

OH was amazed and I am over the moon with how well I'm doing. Still have £128.23 left for the month and I am really hoping we will have a surplus left to go in the OD.

Keep up the good work everyone!

Not sure if I will make budget on my first challenge, but I've managed to get quite a few BOGOFs today and my freezers quite full.

Will have a darn good try, although theres not an awful lot left in the money pot.

    Hope everyones doing okay.

Seem to be on track so far this month.

Its a funny month again as am away next weekend for my birthday and have got lots of meals out.

Think I will eventually be able to get my spending down a lot more in the future though - since being on here have cooked a lot more and the takeaways are way down. Realised that my main problem was trying to decide at 5pm what we were having for dinner in half an hour. Am only menu planning a week at a time at the moment but hope to increase that to 2 weeks soon.

    Hello :hello:
This is my first month on the grocery challenge. I've been reading the OS board for inspiration and have just eated a yummy pasta, tomatoe and tuna dish for tea.

I thought I shopped carefully for one and I'm now ashamed to admit that I spend on average £145 a month. Too many bottles of wine and big bags of chilli crisps I think :) Anyway, thanks to all the advice I'm going to cut my budget a chunk at a time. I'm in the process of buying a house and looking at my predicted budget come mortgage time I'll have less money to spend on groceries anyway!

Thanks for the all the tips and advice on this thread. :T

Went to Lidl's yesterday in the hope of meeting my £50 monthly budget (for me, the boyf 2/3 days a week and the rats), doing quite well, it was half price fruit and veg.

Don't know if this has been brought up before but has anyone noticed, when someone comes along to mark down the food in say Asda/Sainsburys?Tescos, it gets really violent as people shove you out of the way to get to the stuff? - even if you were at the front in the first place (I try to wait to one side rather than sit on the member of staff's back as I imagine it must be very annoying for them).

It makes me really angry, I know we all love a bargain but you would think people were starving! My boyf got so angry the other day and he's usually quite laid back...

Good first shop of the month which cost £39.33.....which is well under my budget of £50 per fortnight. Plenty of stuff in the freezer and the cupboards. In fact in theory I shouldn't need a lot of meat until May. Early April I'm going to do another Tesco Online shop to get some more points to use on summer trips with the girls. So I'm hoping that the freezer can take a bit more yet.

Currently expecting to be well under budget this month.

Bought a chicken at the weekend as an experiment to see what I can get out of it. Didn't use it though, as already had our meals planned. So its sitting in the freezer waiting for me to do something with it. Going to try for a roast one day, a pie another and may attempt soup too. All depends on how daring I feel at the time.

Hi - I am newbie - probably to late to join in the March challenge but I have a question -

How do you all save so much on your online tesco deliveries - is it with codes?
