Couldn't have been a year. People on my local area are wearing tshirts.

In Oxford, it was last June. You can see the date on the front of the Academy on Cowley Rd.

It was about July/August when they did parts of Manchester. I can remember seeing them outside work

I fail to see what the problem with Streetview is on any level. You see nothing that you would not see walking down the same street, at the same time the car was driving down it, which was sometime in the past.

If you want to clone a registration number, you will go out and find one, using your eyes in real time. Or get one of the TV when it goes past in the background of a news article etc.

If you want to look for houses to burgle you will walk or drive around the streets.

If someone want to take pictures of kids, for what ever reason, they will take a camera into the streets and take pictures.

If you have a problem with Google Streetview then I suggest your problems do not start or end with Google.

What next ban people taking pictures, blur out all the faces on Flickr, Picasa, Bebo, Facebook, the TV news, and newspapers?

My little bit of the world isn't up yet but I used to live in london and I have just seen my old home and "walked" to school. Feel a bit weepy now but isn't it fabulous?

Insurance companies use these sites to double check whether parked on or off road!

A car may be on a driveway during the day (eg just before the school run) but in the garage at night. The residential pictures aren't taken at night as far as I have seen, so really not much use to an insurance company regarding any statement about where the car is normally parked overnight.
  • I find it absolutely brilliant. So many legitimate good uses for it. Have been using the Australian version for quite a while now to view areas I am about to holiday in before I go. You can view the Sydney Opera House from the Sydney Harbour Bridge, Bondi Beach etc. Hope it expands to the rest of the UK very soon.
