Thanks sistercas for the vote of support... Look forward to hearing more about your progess too!
Well we went to the presentation and took kiddies - got our £50 :j but probably got out quicker as DD started crying loudly in pain due to stomach gripes and wind and announced to the world that she was weeing herself  unfortunately she was sat on my lap at the time  - you've never seen me move so fast!:rotfl: She hadn't actually luckilyI think we were disturbing the other guests - they signed off our vouchers and let us go all within an hour!
It was a very soft sell tho which if I wasn't a DFW would have been tempting!!!
:j Got my £5 redeem at bp too!:jAchieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Well hello everyone!
Today I have:
* Spent £30 vouchers (from last night - that was part of the plan) on M&S's Dine for 4 offer - bought 2 lots but should last a couple of days at least and MIL is coming and possibly bringing a guest!
* Spent £3.80on a magazine and sweets - really enjoyed the magazine and will pass it on to my sister - as it dealt with CFS, ME and IBS and she has related symptoms...
* Spent £42 on getting my hair cut and coloured - but it is 8 weeks since I last went... want to look good for interviews... need to confidence boost!;)
* Will need to do a grocery shop at some point!
* Need to tidy up for MIL coming
* Trying to resist going shopping for more clothes or books!!!
OH has also spent money on mothers' day prep but I am just focusing on my own spending for now...
No new money making ideas or jobs to apply for....
DS has a friend over - DD also wants one over but trying to resist - too tiring!Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Hi SH we are having the M+S meal offer too. I chose the chicken breasts with caramlised onions, parsnips and profiteroles and wine of course:D
spent the day in the garden weeding and general tidying looks lovely but the house has paid a price it looks a tip and as MIL is coming tomorrow I will have to get cracking on it now :rolleyes:0 -
We had a gorgeous meal (enough left for tomorrow too) -
Beef and Lamb
Creamy mashed potato
Sticky toffee pudding today - profiteroles tomorrow
OH had the wine
Had a lovely day DS had for the first time bought a pressie and card completely by himself. OH had remembered to take DD to get me something mainly cos she nagged him all week - she made me 3 cards !!! First time ever I think since we got married he bought his own mum's card and pressie!
Unfortunately DS got something in his eye and I ended up taking him to hospital but he was seen straightaway... They got a microscopic bit out but said it had been scratching his eye but should be better by tomorrow. They gave him some kind of ointment to put on for rest of week.
Spends today:
Petrol
Food - but not done grocery shop yet so probably not too bad - I will check receipts tomorrow and put real values in...
OH owned up a couple of weeks ago to having bought a really nice lap top a few years ago!! I had noticed it but he always said it was works and I believed him... anyway he has now set it up for my use as mine kept dying and I was tempted to replace my original... He thought he had better own up!!!!! Ermmmm..... wonder what is behind all our debts then ??????
Hope everyone else is okay!Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

lol at the lap top! my OH keeps saying he doesnt spend anything from the account ( I do all the shopping and bills etc) but then I keep seeing little things crop up on the account and when I ask him he says its just a little thing he has bought off ebay.! the thing is he is buying 'little things' off ebay several times a day!! and it all adds up.
decided to do the £10 a day challenge, although I havent gone on the thread as I thought I would just do it myself, saved £3 already this morning by conning DD1 into having sandwiches instead of a school dinner
off to meadowhall as I have 8 birthdays in april to buy for, normally budget £20 for each present so I will see how well I do and add any savings to my £10 a day challenge
sounds like you had a lovely mothers day. me too- OH forgot to buy a mothers day card but the kids made me one each instead which actually was much nicer than a bought card. I ended up getting a card from the cat and hamster too! the meal was lovely there was so much we couldnt finish it all.0 -
Sorry haven't popped in over the weekend, it just disappeared (didn't take the ironing pile with it either...)
Sounds like you had a lovely day savingholmes, aren't the homemade cards the best thing ever?

Thanks piquant and sistercas for the return visit!:A Glad you both had good weekends.
Yesterday my MIL was on her best behaviour but even so we had to reassure her we were not going to lose the house, we wouldn't be moving in with her and we would be able to meet our bills on one wage even if it was hard - bless....We explained that providing OH kept his job it should be okay - and that if he didn't the government would have to pay our mortgage for 12 months as it is interest only - and surely in that time we would manage to find work...
Well done Cas on joining the £10 a day challenge :T - OH gave me £50 in cheques yesterday - one dated from October and told me I had better get it in the bank quick if I wanted them to be in date.... think he might need to get a new one written myself...! I have a horrible feeling that for one of them the last day to cash it was today!
Well I have just spent a whole 60p!Shock horror on drinks again... I've brought some of my choccies in from yesterday to make work more bearable.. I don't want to leave my job but since I am leaving when I don't want to - being in work is a kind of water torture! I have to smile and put on a professional face every day as if it didn't matter or scare me! There's loads they want me to do before I leave as well....
I spoke to 3 agencies this morning. Got turned down for a job  I got put forward for about 10 days ago but no other news. 1 of them had used my revamped CV and much preferred it said it was much sharper - they told me that they had every confidence I would get a job it was just a timing issue - hopefully linked in to the April new financial year....
A role I applied for in January still hasn't shortlisted but they are hopeful they will over the next week or so. That role was reasonably local and okay money so here's hoping....
Bye for now
This pm I need to:
* WORK
* Put in my expenses claim
* Ideally ring a few more agencies and give them a prod!Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Hi savingholmes,
First time I've had to pop in for a few days too - no computer at home! You sound like you are going well with your plan. Agencies always need a prod, I registered with a few when I was looking for another job a couple of years ago, still waiting to here from them, although methinks it was because I wanted permanent work (have temped in the past). In my case it was office work, but even temp jobs might not be suitable if it takes you away from your usual sort of work.
Anyway good luck, will keep looking for updates x0 -
It must be very difficult to continue to go to work knowing you're leaving it soon, I know what you mean by water torture...Your diary is very upbeat considering the stress you must be under. I really hope the agencies pull their fingers out for you and find you a super job very soon.

yes lets hope something turns up very soon, as you say things might improve for the better in the new financial year
I saved £27 on my shopping today so I will add that to my £3 from this morning, I should think tomorrow will be a NSD as I am at work all day and will take a sarni0
