    Why is it that Trolls manage to have other threads locked (and spoil it for others), but this thread gets loads of them, but stays open? :confused:

    I'm sorry, but I don't understand exactly what you are saying. :confused:

    Are you saying that we are 'Trolls'?
    I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
    If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

    Tim this thread does not get lots of trolls, we do get them from time to time and would prefer they were here rather than upsetting new posters on our board. Once a troll has been dispatched their posts, and our responses are usually deleted. There is no need to lock our thread.

    I know you have said in the past that you get trolls on bed/mattress threads but as far as I am aware threads are usually only locked when they have become completely unconstructive and have descended into arguments so much so that the original message/advice is lost.

    I agree with tixy - this thread gets very few trolls but its better that they post here rather than upset a vulnerable person elsewhere.

    The trouble is that the Abuse team don't act quick enough to stop the trolls making a thread degenerate. They seem to have the sole purpose of causing disruption, and having threads closed. This means that those who want advice actually stay away while the trolls are active.

    Nooo, I'm not saying you are all trolls. I don't follow this thread too closely, but I do notice quite a few references to them being on here.

    It can take some time for abuse to act, due to the huge size of the board and the number of posts. Maybe you could use the 'do not feed the trolls' idea and ignore the posts that are not relevant and continue to give advice to those asking for it. If necessary I have pm'd a poster (particularly if its a new or vulnerable user) to tell them to ignore the troll and to just listen to the constructive advice.

    I think sometimes a board guide will lock a thread temporarily (as that is what they have the power to do) whilst they wait for the abuse team to investigate, as sometimes the BGs are about more than abuse, especially at night.

    You have misunderstood our threads purpose. This thread is designed to advise people to ignore the trolls. So at the top of each page we post a notice to newcomers to try to stop them being frightened off should a troll land on their thread and start to abuse them. So we are troll hunters for the DFW board and there will always be references to them on every single page.

    The rest of our posts are just us chatting to bump the thread so that it stays near the top of the board and new people will read it.
