I want to congratulate you on the birth of your baby boy and I am sure you will come up with a lovely name.

I can imagine that things are hard for you at the moment you need time to adjust but he will be a very loving little boy and from reading your posts you sound a wonderful person and I am sure you will cope. Get all the help you can and treat him as a precious gift which he is. Don't be afraid to post a piccy when you feel able.

We are all here for you. Lots of hugs.

    Hi Guys,

Thank you for all your messages.

I've got some happy/sad news...I had the baby on Sunday night, he was born a healthy 7lb 4oz and 54cms. I was only at the hospital for an hour or so before he arrived (spontaneous vaginal delivery so basically he just shot out when no-one was expecting it) however he isn't quite the baby I was expecting. When he was given to me I asked the midwives what was wrong with him, they looked at him and took him away, he was diagnosed with Downs shortly after. I got to take him home yesterday but I'm still in a bit of a state of shock about it and have taken it quite badly and couldn't bring myself to talk about it, even typing about it is making me cry.

So all you preganat ladies out there...even if your blood test comes back that you're a low risk for Downs and should be in the age category that 'it doesn't happen to' then please remember that I'm only 23 and I've have already had a perfectly 'normal' baby and that Downs can happen to anyone xxx

P.s My pad for today is £30.00 to make up for missing yesterday.

Hi Angelic. Take one day at a time hun, you need time to adjust. Your futures can still be good but just in a different way. I've worked with children with Down's Syndrome and their families so i know things can be positive. When you are ready seek out the support and comfort from others. The links f_f has put up will be great for that when you are ready.

We're all here for you. Love and hugs xxxx

Angelicmary: Big hugs to you – it must have been a bit of a shock and will take a little bit of getting used to! Speaking as the mother of an autistic son, I have a problem with the word ‘normal’ – normal is a cycle on a washing machine! All children have their little quirks, it doesn’t mean that we love them any less or that they won’t achieve just as much. Find yourself a good support group so you can meet and talk to other parents in the same situation – it will be worth it’s weight in gold. :grouphug:

Hi all, funny weather here today - it's sunny then it rains, then the sun comes out again. My pad is another 50p, hoping to pay more soon.

Angelic - Congratulations on your new son, hope you're feeling a bit better. Best wishes as this must have been such a shock.

I had my selection tests for a job today and passed, although I don't know what I scored. I've got an interview tomorrow and am feeling slightly sick about it. It's competency based and will be about 45 mins long, oh joy.

I hope I get it though as it will make life much easier. There are 30 jobs going and I know that 180 people were invited to the selection tests, so not sure how good my chances are.
