Paulgonnabedebtfree wrote: »Probably nothing at all. There are more people applying for each job at the moment so the odds are a bit longer against being selected. It's a numbers game though. I started getting a bit crafty in the last recession. When I filled out an application form, I would highlight experience from previous jobs that I felt was relevant and suppress the bits that I felt they weren't interested in. Filling in an application form that seems to give them what they want without telling a direct lie is an art form. Also, I used to phone up the personnel manager a few days after filling in the form to "correct" an "error" I had made on it. This does several things. It gets you noticed. It projects you as an honest person. It can also portray you as someone who makes admin errors occasionally but the first two outweigh the last one if you feel that you won't get selected anyway. This has actually worked for me before. In the end I got peed off with the lot of them and built a window cleaning round instead. Still doing it 18 years later. I'm so used to making my own work environment, I'm probably unemployable by now. Maybe I could work for someone else on work where I was left to my own devices but even then I have my doubts.
Thanks Paul, I think it really is just numbers and also filling the application in in the "right" way! Well I hope so anyway!
After my little self-pity party earlier I had some good news (at last) as I have an interview on Tuesday. When I say interview it's actually selection tests and if I pass those then I get an interview. I'm really hoping to get this job as it's right next to my house and better money and hours than I'm on now. The job might be half-decent too....:rotfl:Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Car loan 1 £11,174, Car loan 2 £5,532, CC 0% BT £780. Best of luck for Tuesday.
Living very close to the job may be something that you could highlight. Something like being able to get to work without depending on public transport or a car working properly.0 -

I KNEW IT! OMG I knew this was going to happen! I'm a huge Feeder fan and have been for about 11 years now. I would talk to Mark (the drummer) a lot at the many gigs I saw (24 in total) and cracks were forming in the Feeder camp. I had heard rumours during the Feeder tour that SA were reforming... Then just the other week, Feeder announce Mark had left (all under a dark cloud methinks - Grants ego got the better of the band). Must go and see if I can get a ticket! Thanks F_F! You going to go check them out?
xx
Only 6 months to go until the gig0 -
