:hello:
Phew, at last I've got to the end of this thread - been reading it for weeks!! May I join you please? I am doing SW at home - have been part of group but life (and work) got in the way.
I would like to say to Susiebaby who posted ages ago (1800-odd) that I also have an underactive thyroid, but don't want to bang on about it if she is no longer with this forum! Also to pennylane - this might be the medical condition you are referring to.
Finally Judderman, can I have that spreadsheet?! Been reading about it for ages, sounds great.0 -

You are correct - this is misuse of free food. The muffins would have to be synned at 5 syns per 28gms of polents used.I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -

Thanks for clarifying this, the person who posted on minimims had tasted at a taster session in SW group which is a bit worrying.0 -
Hope the following might help some people:-
Uses for Quark
Quark is a very low fat soft cheese, generally found near the cottage cheese in larger supermarkets. It is very bland in taste and texture and therefore can be used as a creamy base for lots of dishes:-…………………………………………………………………………………..
Add very low fat fromage frais to quark with some herbs & garlic to make a lovely dip for carrot batons, chunks of celery etc.
Add garlic puree (you don’t need very much) to a tub of quark mix together and keep in the fridge to add to almost anything! Try dipping slimming world chips into it or use as a topping for jacket potatoes.
Mix with a tin of tuna, spring onion, red pepper and a tsp of paprika for a sandwich filling or jacket potato topping.
Mix salmon with a tub of quark place on a bed of rocket leaves and top with asparagus and black pepper. (Lovely as a starter)
Mix quark with cooked leeks, mushrooms, fat free fromage frais or yoghurt and stir through pasta. It makes a really nice creamy sauce.
Quark is a good alternative to cottage cheese when making quiche, just whisk it into the eggs and pour over the base mixture.
Make a sugar free jelly up as the packet says and set aside to cool (2 syns). Mix a matching flavoured Muller light with a pot of quark. Carefully stir in jelly and allow to set in the fridge over night.
Mix equal parts quark and Mullerlight (any flavour). Add a little sweetener and put into ice cream maker - delicious!
Add sweetener, mix well and use as a free topping on fruit.
Mix 250 a quark with sweetener and 2 chocolate options (4 syns) - put into ice cream maker - lovely creamy ice cream.
Cut the top of a whole BULB of garlic (about 8 cloves). Put in oven and spray a couple of times with frylight and roast for about 15 minutes or so. Allow to cool and when you squeeze the bottom of the whole bulb the cloves will squeeze out. Mix these cloves with about 100g of quark and add 2 laughing cow light cheese triangles (HEA) spread onto 7 Ryvita Crackerbread (HEB) - absolutely lovely.
Lemon Meringue Puddings (syn free)
300 g quark
1 lemon(s), rind grated and juice
3 medium egg(s), separated
6 tablespoon artificial sweetener, powdered (4 for puddings and 2 for meringues)
Preheat oven to 180°C / 350°F / Gas Mark 4.
Beat the Quark in a bowl to make it smooth and creamy. Add lemon rind and juice, egg yolks and 4 tbsp of powdered sweetener. Share between 4 small heatproof dishes or ramekins. Stand on a baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes.
Meanwhile, whip egg whites in a grease-free bowl until they hold their shape. Whisk in remaining powdered sweetener.
Remove desserts from oven and pile meringue on top. Return to oven to bake for 5 more minutes, until golden brown.
Cook’s tip:
- Egg whites will not whip if there is the slightest trace of grease in the bowl or on the beaters - and that includes the egg yolk!
- You can eat them straight away, but after much trial and error I found them best if you leave the cooked lemon mix to cool overnight then mix up meringue the next day and bake for 5 mins.
I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -

Yes, it crops up a lot. We have been told by head office that misusing free foods is definitely wrong, but unfortunately it doesn't seem to have filtered down to everyone.
Nevertheless, having one of these muffins, every now and again, as a treat, is much better than having that chunk of 'Death by Chocolate' cakeI let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
I am sooooo proud of myself. I have spent 3 days at a Land Rover Show. I didn't eat once from the burger vans, the sweetie stalls, the ice cream trucks or the gorgeous cake and cookie stands.
Day 5 and I haven't cheated, yay!0 -
