Thanks for your replies burtoc and JillD, and burtoc I'm so glad I'm not the only one going through this turmoil! I'll give the "porridge" a go tomorrow. You've given me some great ideas, and in fact JillD some of the ones you came up with, I've done previously and forgotten about. Feel quite silly really. Think its brain food I need!
I do find the red days lunches more difficult to vary and will often end up with salad and a pkt of wafer thin ham which usually ends up getting finished off as a snack in the afternoon. But I'm a bit fed up of this too. I also used to eat a lot of fruit for my snacks but my SW consultant explained that too much is not good for my diet due to the sugar levels albeit natural sugar. I also get 'told off' in the nicest possible way of course that I don't eat enough. I know when I first started I ate like a horse and lost weight, but sometimes lately I find it difficult to continually eat which she tells me is why the weight loss is slowing down. I can't even put it down to hot weather as we haven't had that for ages now! I will keep persevering though as I'm determined to lose more weight for my hols 7 weeks away. I just needed some inspiration really, which thanks to you both I've now got. Thanks!0 -
Hello everyone! Popping in to say that I'm still following the SW way of life but progress is pretty slow. I am in awe of some of you though!:T
I have cut so much OUT of my life - cheese, sugar, biscuits, cakes, bread, butter, icecream, sweets, chocolate. I have taken sweetners for years and also skimmed milk, so no change there.
I cook the SW way and weigh myself once a week. We eat plenty of fruit, veg, low fat yoghourts, fish, lean meat, salad and drink loads of water.
I can truthfully say that I am doing more exercise than I've done for years but I am lucky if I lose a pound in a fortnight. I need to lose easily another 2 stones so it's not like I'm close to target either.
Does anybody know if there are any medical conditions which cause you to stop losing weight because it is really frustrating. I really feel I have got my head around what I can and cannot eat as I am keeping the weight off but I'm just not losing any more.:mad:0 -

Hi there
Its so frustrsting isnt it. There are medical conditions, I am not a medical person, but I think if there was something underlying you may have other symptoms too like fatigue etc. That is not to say that there isn't something underlying.
Otherwise, do you keep a food diary ?
Maybe if you did that for a few days then posted on here we could see if we could help ? Are there any hidden extras creeping in ? I know when I dont write it down I think I've been good but then realise that actually I was rubbish and just forgot or ignored lots of wee things.Jan GC: £202.65/£450 (as of 4-1-12)

Hi Everyone,
I have just been reading on minimims about supposedly syn free muffins using coarse ground polenta, the inference seems to be that because it's coarse ground it's syn free. Surely this can't be correct and it's still using ploenta as a flour substitute and so needs to be synned.
What do you all think. Shall I post the recipe?0 -
Help!
I need to spend the next 3 days doing "red" before I weigh in on Wednesday as I have been very bad for the last 4 days!
Please can I have people's ideas for red day meals, snacks and general bits & pieces. I am normally a green girl so need a mindset change very quickly!!!!
Thanks"this money saving lark is a full time job"0 -
BradnJanet - post it by all means - some people might be fine to use it but I agree it's misuse.
burtoc - cooked breakfasts or just bacon & eggs/mushrooms, mushroom/prawn/chicken omlette, scrambled eggs and salmon (I used tinned the other day), meat & two veg dinner (with HEb of pots if you want), chilli/curry without the rice (or syn it), salads are always a winner (lots of free food) but throw in whatever meat/fish you want!
I snakc on cold chicken/cold free sausages!

This is the recipe I found on minims, it would be great if it really was syn free but I doubt it.
Recipe makes 12
225g course ground polenta
1 large beaten egg
1 tsp bicarbonate of soda
3 pots of vanilla mullerlight low fat yoghurt
7 - 10 tbsps Splenda
1 - 2 tsps vanilla extract
1. Put all ingredients in a bowl and mix for at least 3 minutes. Leave to stand for at least 20 minutes.
2. Spoon into muffin tins that have been sprayed with frylight.
3. Cook for about 20 minutes at 200C / Gas mark 6
Variations -
cherry yoghurt and replace vanilla extract with almond.
vanilla & chocolate yoghurt with rind and juice of 1 orange with 1 tsp vanilla.0 -

Fried onions in Frylight until soft then added a garlic clove (two would be good but I had a meeting in a small room the next morning!) then loads of mushrooms and some salt and pepper. When these were cooked I stirred in about half a tub a quark on a highish heat and it turned the quark into soft cheesy bits. I served it with some pasta tubes and it was delicious.
Sounds delish would also be free on EE if you added ham, chicken or lean bacon. Defo going to try this in the week. I make the lemon terrine from one of the old mags and always have asome quark left over so this will be a good way to use it up0 -
