I just joined slimming world on monday doing extra easy and have a few questions if any one can help?
Do you need to have a healthy a and b everyday?
Do you have to have the full amount of the healthy option? for example today i'm having laughing cow triangles and in the extra easy book it says to have 6 (extra light) but I only want three, could I have half of the milk aswel or should I really have 6 triangles? Its the same with the b choice, if i had weetabix i think it says to have a ryvita with it, do i need to? or could i just have weetabix?
Also, I used the slimming world website to look at syns for a few things and one was a bathchelors pasta and sauce, tomatoe and basil - it said it was free (excluding milk and butter) so when i cooked it with just water would that still be free?
Lastly, I sometimes drink flavoured still/sparkling water - is that free? And no added sugar orange squash?
Thanks

Yes - for health reasons & a balanced diet
You really should have the whole lot - blend them into different meals or go with the non-light ones if you want less. I never have the ryvita or scan bran with the cereals but it's part of your fibre intake so you should really.
Yes pasta & sauce cooked with just water is completely free.
no added sugar squash is usually free (as are no added sugar/diet pops) - waters are often not though I think some are - if you have access to the website check them.Don't drink them myself so can't help with which ones are, sorry
Hope this helps?

Just come back from weigh in. Put on another 2lbs so that is 5 lbs in 2 weeks:o:o Obviously not stuck to the diet (was away last weekend so that's my excuse
)
Must try harder :cool:0 -
I've just come back from my first shop having got all the info. Spent £45 on 4 days food for family of 4 so not too bad, especially seeing as I bought 4 packs of Alpen light bars so I could try the flavours!
Today is EE day
I was in bed so missed breakfast
lunch - toast (HEB) with butter (2) and marmalade (0.5)
dinner - homemade beef chili and rice, lots of salad and fruit with free yogurt for desert. I will use a my HEA as sprinkling of cheese on the chili.
I had some snack a jacks on my night shift which were 6 syns, all other snacks have been fruit.
Is that ok? This EE isn't coming easy.0 -
good evening! I havent caught up with the thread yet , will do so next!
I have a question though. I have been on the plan for 2 days yet and as advised at my meeting, by several people, I have eaten loads. But I am really worried that I have eaten too much.
Could someone tell me how this looks (apologies for the loads of detail but I want to be sure its ok). I am doing green days as I am an (occasional fish eating) veggie.

Hi again!
Does anyone have the recipe from the new Slimming World magazine for Quorn moussaka?
Sounds lovely!
Thanks!
Hi there
I only have the July mag and cant se a recipe for Quorn Moussaka, so maybe its in the August issue if thats out already ? Anyway, here is one from the Green cookbook I bought on Tuesday, I guess its similar:
Quorn Moussaka
Ready in 50 min plus salting
Serves 4
1/2 syn per serving on Green
1 large aubergine cut into 1cm thick slices
salt
1 large onion finely chopped
2 garlic cloves
350g pack quorn mince
2 level tbsp tomato puree
397g/14oz can chopped tomatoes
1tbsp fresh parsley
2 eggs, beaten
511g/1lb 2 oz very low fat natural yoghurt
salt and freshly ground pepper
fry light
1. Preheat oven to 180C/G4
2.Place aubergine slices onto kitchen paper, psrinkle with salt and leave for 30 minutes . Rinse aubergine under cold running water and pat dry.
3. Meanwhile, dry fry onion, garlic, quorn mince for about 5 mins
Add tomato puree, tomaties, and parsely. Simmer for 30 minutes until tender.
Transfer mixture to an ovenproof dish.
4. Beat eggs and yoghurt together and season to taste.
Place aubergine slices on grill pan and spary with fry light .
Place under preheated grill for 4-5 minutes each side.
Arrange aubergine on top of the quorn mixture.
Pour yoghurt and egg misture over.
5. Bake in oven for 20-30 minutes until golden bron and bubbling.

Hello,
The amount of syns you are having is fine, however you can only have 2 hea and 2 heb, on green or red days. And it looks as if your having 3 on each day.
Someone more experienced might be able to help more.Started slimming world 4th November 2010

I can't see three HE's - I see 2 HEa's and 2HEb's on each day
The Pasta n Sauce would be free if you only made it with water.
It's your preference but if you used Frylight for your stir-fry etc you would save a few sysn a day instead of using them on oil!
Don't forget you can have 2 Alpen Light bars as 1 HEb - have both as these are part of your fibre intake.
Hope you're measuring your milk for teas - it's easy to go over!
Other than that it's fine

Thanks to Jill for the Moussaka recipe - I'm going to make it for my friend this evening, i hope she likes it! Although they only had organic aubergines in the supermarket, so ended up spending £3 on those - NOT very MSE! This 'lifestyle change' (not diet!) is costing me a fortune!
Well anyway, this week was my first 'proper' week of sticking to the plan 100% (after dabbling with it for a few weeks and going on holiday) and I weighed in a day early as I have guests this weekend and I lost 3 lbs! yay me. That has given me faith in the plan, as I had been a bit dubious about it all to be honest. But I would say that I found it hard to stop feeling hungry this week, so definitely not sustainable in the long term.
I would say that I cut my syns down to a max 10 a day, but didnt always use them, but always had over 5 each day. Those I've saved I'm planning on drinking tonight!
Anyway, can anyone tell me more about flexible syns? I had been thinking that you can have as many as you like on any day, so long as you decided how many in advance and so long as you still kept the weekly total eg 7x 10 = 70 for me. But I read something in the SW magazine about when you go on holiday, you can set the total number of syns at say 50 a day just so you keep in control?? Surely doing this you are not likely to lose, and only if you are lucky STS?? I0 -
Can I join?? I'm very new to slimming world had my first group Tuesday so my first weigh in on the diet this coming Tuesday and I am nervous!
It just feels wrong to eat big bowls of pasta, been making some wholemeal pasta with home made pasta sauce and lots of veggies so its completely free on green but it makes me feel bloated so not sure whether I am actually losing any weight.
Im going to try a couple of red days to see if that helps.
This thread is great, took me ages to read through the whole thing but some great ideas in them.
Can i double check how many syns Be good to Yourself Bhuna cooking sauce is??0
