    Afternoon gang

yup we are a lot arn`t we :o

I honestly think that if Christmas wasn`t all around the corner then we would all be ok, we`ve all started again in earnest with the best intentions of losing a good few lbs before Christmas and now that all the December parties/going out boozing thingies have started we`re all struggling.

I keep changing my mind about what i`m doing, first i was having Cday and Bday off and then was going to not diet whilst i was on leave

Well i`m on leave now and although i`ve cheated i don`t think that i`ve done too badly, i`m thinking about where i would be now if i wasn`t lcing in at least some fashion and that would probably be another stone on

I`ll cheat here and there for the rest of my time off - i know that i will but i`m still better off - oh and the crisps are still in the cupboard but the choccy aint :rotfl:

So far today i`ve walked the woofaloes and then sat down and gone through all the paperwork  I`ve only just finished and now have neat stacks to put away somewhere safe and a couple of huge bags to burn. Next will be clearing up the kitchen. Painting WAS going to be next but i`ve been into the room and the light is so bad that i`ll wait and see what its like later. Its very dark and chucking it down here so i don`t want to ruin it by not being able to see properly.

I never got my scramblies, i knew that if i went to make them i`d never get the paperwork done so i had gherkins, ham, cheese and extra hot horseradish. Just finishing the choccy now :D

Dunno whats for tea yet, i`ll see what DH wants when he gets home.

    Happy afternoons everyone

Getting so jealous of all the tasty food and booze consumed this weekend. I got some 90% Lindt yesterday and managed to only have 2 squares (okay they're big squares!) and 2 more today. But it's okay, it's about 1.5 carb a square!! I actually prefer the 81% Lidl choc which is good as it's about half the price :rotfl:
Me and OH went to Mr S last night mostly so he could stock up on food for work but we got some reduced posh bread that I've put in the freezer for one day in the distant future.

I haven't done a lot today, got up at 11am? Went the tip with OH and had some SF jelly with 2 strawberries and whipping cream when I got back. And just had half a pack of pork scratchings (40g?) that were so salty I needed 1.5L water and 2 cups green tea with them. Today is definitely a bit of a naughty day but at least it's LC. I'll eat some proper food for dinner, do some reading for my dissertation and some quick exercise: 10 push ups + 10 jump lunges x 10!! Maybe not all in one go though.

I'm going to make some peanut butter snack balls to take to work this week along with cheese salads. Recipe is in progess but should be nice, will have to sample tonight ofc :D

well i'm still struggling with lc, I have decided not to give it up completely though ( thanks adelight) so im doing lc meals but cheating with snacks ( which something i definitely want to knock on the head after crimbo)

i dont drink alcohol that much , i much prefer a good cuppa , then i end up having biscuits or cake with it :o

wrapped up loads of presents today , still got loads to do but i have to do it in stages otherwise i get backache , i love it when pressies look so nice all wrapped and glittery :D

More painting done, hallway half finished now :)

Must gloss til i'm blue in the face tomorrow!

Dont feel very Christmassy, i've not trimmed up and am not buying any pressies this year, my boys are all men now so will be giving them money (its what they want) and no-one else to buy for anymore.

Dont know whether to bother getting the tree down from the attic, seems a lot of bother for a couple of weeks.. prob coz i'm so tired from all the painting.

Dinner is ready, just waiting for youngest to come home from work.

    Hiya

I also cut right back on alcohol when i was trying to lose.

Had a bit of wine last night so not really eaten much today, just some cheese and pickled onions (couldnt get into the gherkins, stupid jar! :rotfl:)

Pink Princess - wow well done on not eating at the chinese. I would have but would have stuck to the meals that look less carby. so crispy beef and stuff. even though i know the sauces probably have really high carbs, they dont look too bad! :p

Sistercas - i find i dont snack much on lc and try to have foods i can snack on in the fridge so i dont reach for the crips or sweets or choccy if i do need to, usually when i have forgotten to have lunch.

Was meant to be having chicken roast but chicken still frozen :(, i put it in fridge yesterday. so will have that tomorrow instead.
  • :jHi all,

Im a guy & really could do with losing about 3 stone ...!

I've allways like meat, protein etc...so rather than following any exact book/plan I'm eating SOME carbs (berries, low sugar baked beans, sprouts, mushrooms etc) & whilst not being too anal about it I'll trim any excess fat off say bacon, etc...but will still use butter, cream too! I enjoy cooking & have a breadmaker. i suppose my net carb intake is approx 18-25 a day max. I do drink a lot of water too & will soon I hope (I hae a bad knee at the mo) be back to the gym 3 times a week for cardio/weights.

I've seen some fab recipes for breadmaker bread http://www.lowcarbcooking.co.nz/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=182:low-carb-bread-for-the-breadmaker-machine&catid=42:baking&Itemid=56 & http://video.about.com/lowcarbdiets/Focaccia-Style-Flax-Bread.htm (which I've made before in a poundland silicone bread mould-knocked out the splenda & lowered temp & cooked for 50 mins or so-delicious-can be toasted)-many of which call for 'gluten flour'. I've tried googling it but am getting confused-is this simply 'gluten-free flour???! Any ideas where to get it???

Also...does anyone know how long it takes to start burning fat...I know the initial weight loss is water due to carb stores being used (I think???!!).

One interesting point....I had some friends over who I've not seen for ages-G/F was away & we ...ahem' (!) had LOADS of vodka (to ur shame we all like it neat!) over about 3 days-but STILL lost 5 pounds in weight???! Kinda puts the calorie issue out of the window!

    Nice to meet you all....

I was 14 st 2....now 13st 11-would like to be 11 stone. Any help would be great!

    Hi debtmonkey.

Gluten flour is not gluten free stuff, its sometimes called vital wheat gluten, it's what makes the dough stretchy and elastic and light.

Cheapest i've seen if you count the P&P is here

I think your weightloss could be down to severe dehydration :D

Not sure when you start fat burning, maybe someone else will know.

    Hi Debtmonkey
Me & my husband keep our carbs as restricted as you are now doing & we love it. It is our WOE now not a diet. :)

The fat burn happens once you are in a thing called ketosis. Around 4-7 days after reducing your carb level that low. Did you get carb flu?

I don't know which make of beans you are eating but I've not found any low enough that I'd eat them.:o

Well done on your weight loss :T

Thanks Nutty, I don't even really miss carbs any more except for the wine :D

Debtmonkey1A I recommend you read Waist Disposal by Dr John Briffa. It's an excellent low carb book written especially for men. You can pick up second hand copies quite cheaply on Amazon marketplace.

Thankfully I stuck to spirits on the whole ( Just 1 glass of wine snuck it's way into hand) so I'm hoping the damage won't be to bad.

Beanrua- Wine was always my down fall as well, I could drink 2 bottles a night, every night  But now I lc I don't even want any. I still like a drink but will stick to spirits
Just returned home and catching up -am I to understand that spirits are 'better' than wine - if you know what I mean.
Welcome debtmonkey - lots of great support and advice on here - I'm not really fixated on alcohol - just exploring my options.
