Nonononono. Don't mention the hot cross buns. They are my most serious weakness. My OH brought some home last week being 'kind' as I was having a grump. Grrrrr.

oops sorry HanSpan, if its any consolation I've still got a sore stomach from eating them

    morning

Alias hope the lunch goes ok today, fingers crossed for some harmony

mazzers you ok? you sound like you have a lot going on

I am still Lcarbing ( although had 2 slices of pizza last night with cheesy balls :o:D)

    breakfast will be scrambled egg
lunch a sandwich for them , a salad for me probably
    tea chicken stir fry

I am reading a book at the moment called 'mastering leptin' its a hormone similar to insulin I think which makes you store fat. it says you should have 3 meals a day with at least 5 hours between and NOTHING to eat after a tea at all ( should go 11-12 hours with out food) this means your body can burn fat
it also says you should exercise between meals ( but not just after a meal) - strenuous exercise at least 3 times a week

the more I read about healthy eating / trying to lose weight the more confused I'm getting :(
  • Hello peeps :hello:

daisy, your life has been turned upside down so I'm not surprised you are feeling down. All you can do is keep strong & accept any help/support that's offered, don't try & do everything yourself. That's great that the prognosis for Cliff is so positive & hopefully you will get your holiday to Cuba in the not so distant future, it's something to look forward to & work towards. xx

alias, hope you have/are having/had a lovely lunch with your family, makes me hungry just thinking about it!! :o I wish I didn't love food quite so much!! :rotfl:

mazz, hopes things are ok with you :kisses3:

fruity, mmmmmmmmmmmm, HM hot cross buns with butter, slobber slobber ... DO NOT POST THE RECIPE!! :rotfl:

HanSpan, thanks for that chocolate information  Especially like the sound of the ganache centred chocs nomnomnom!!

I bought myself some 70% cocoa choc the other day & it's surprisingly yummy!! I've only ever used it in baking (Mercy's buns) but I really like it in it's raw state lol!! Have managed to limit myself to 1 or 2 pieces a day, goes lovely with a glass of red wine!! :D

sistercas, I know what you mean about the more you read the more confused you get!! There's so much information out there, most of it conflicting boohoo!!

Anyway, I treated myself to fish & chips without the chips yesterday!! Went to Whitby & climbed lots of steps & steep banks (my butt cheeks were killing me!! :rotfl:) so felt the fish was justified!!

Hope everyone having a lovely chocolate-filled Easter weekend

Lunch has turned into early dinner....table was apparently booked for 4.30. Stress levels are high here, will be surprised if we are all still alive come 4.30. :D Families are evil things. :rotfl:

I don't post very often but I read every day & get a bit panicky when this thread drops onto the 2nd page. I'll try harder to contribute more often.

My own experience also fits with this theory - I'm most certainly not eating very low carb, just lower than most and avoiding (almost) altogether sugar, potatoes, white flower, rice and pasta. I didn't lose weight fast - about a stone over a year - but I've kept that off with very little effort for over two years now. Yes I bounce up a few pounds when I've had a bad week or two, and yes I could do with losing more, but I'm at the top of the 'healthy weight' band for my height now and not miserable or beating myself up. Unlike when (years ago) I tried low fat and did lose but was really miserable and bad tempered and put it all back on and some once I relaxed a bit.

I think this is very sensible. I believe that most diets fail because we put too much pressure on ourselves to see results fast so we eat in a way that's unsustainable for most people who live a 'normal' life. If we were a bit more patient, more of us would succeed.

I've found low carb to be the only way of eating I can stick to for any period of time without feeling deprived. I've stuck to it since the 29th December except for the day my MIL cooked turkey pie for lunch & a tiny sliver of cake on Mothers Day. My weight has gone down steadily until now I'm within 5lbs of my target & I've stayed the same for the past 3 weeks. I have faith that if I stick with it, the weight will drop off eventually.

Sweets You're so lucky having a day in Whitby. It's one of my favourite seaside places.

Mazzers, Daisy & Alias Sorry to hear you're all having such a rough time at the moment.

Hi folks, i would so miss this thread, its like catching up with gossip from yer mates :)

I just cant be ars*d with weight watching atm.
A family member has had a cyst removed and it turns out to be a tumour, still awaiting results so no news to report.
Obviously it is constantly on all of our minds and i woke with my heart pounding with fear this morning :(

I am reading all the posts tho.

    Happy Easter to everyone.
