Damn.. i forgot to buy a parsnip for my stew.
Anyway, made a lovely hot chilli, a hot chicken madras, and butter chicken for me icon7.gif
My youngest has trekked through the snow to school to sit an exam, so he's got something nice to warm him up later.

Off to clean and shower and then i might make them some brownies.

Will be making corned beef stew for the boys so i might make a small pan of lower carb version for myself.

Good thinking. When you say corned beef stew, what do you mean?? :o
I bought some corned beef today so think I'll make myself a hash tonight. Is that the same as a stew?!

Did a foodie shop in M&S (only because they have a few deals on) & have bought 3 lots of fish (lemon sole, cod & salmon) as I'd really like to incorporate more fishy stuff into my diet. Might buy some prawns (if I can find any on offer) & make prawn mayo sometime too.
  • Just saw that you forgot to buy a parsnip for your stew so I'm presuming it is different to a hash :o Unless you put parsnips in your hash?!
Sorry, I'm having a bad day :rotfl:
  • My mother used to make a corned beef stew. It was cubes of tinned corned beef cooked in tomato/vegeteble soup and she made it so often it became a joke.
  • hello!

maybe you're right mazzers, I should skip induction as I find it hard to stick to

what yoghurt do you guys eat? I love greek yog more than natural but if i can have nuts and berries then it wont matter too much I guess

getting cabin fever as it snowed again last night so roads are bad - its been a week of snow now and its making me go a bit bonkers... meant to thaw out over weekend though which is good!

jen, if you have a Lidl near you there's a bucket of greek yoghurt that's fairly low-carb, can't remember how much it costs but it's a big pot & lots of devotees on this thread!!

It's about £2, v nice! I chop some nuts and mix em in, leave for a while and the nuts go a bit softer. Pecans are my fave but good for all nuts n seeds, take the bitterness out of walnuts too. I like walnuts as they are but they do go sweeter. Chopped brazils are a dream in here too! :rotfl: Can you tell I like this food? :j

I've been thinking of making a corned beef hash but using turnips n cauli in place of spuds. Couldn't buy either in asda other day as all winter veg had been 'panic' bought :rotfl:

Made do with mange tout and the last savoy cabbage in the shop :D So bought a knock down pork shoulder joint which is roasting away like a goodun as I type.

Will be having chunks of it for supper with cabbage in butter and black pepper.

    Hi all.
I've managed to persuade my husband to low carb with me for a month & see how he gets on. His greatest love (apart from me of course :D) is roast potatoes. Yesterday I roasted some celeriac as a substitute & it was really good. It isn't the lowest carb of veggies but a lot lower than potatoes & a very acceptable alternative.

I'm with Sweets & Mazzers re the Pig2Twig forum. I'm a big fan of the book but I haven' been able to get into the forum at all, although there are some good recipes.
